What would happen if someone overloads the Center of your Defense though. I think it would be rater dicey with no support from the Midfield.

Take my Attack, for example.

You need the ball for that, with the players I have, it wont be easy.

I wont say your team, because you have Xavi just like I do, but a team in that sort of system would be playing on the counter with the players I have and leaving 3 men up the pitch would be rather risky given the amount of attacking talent I have.

My idea is, having the best possession players while still having alot of forwards.

Overall, if I were to just create a team, putting in weaker players but for a more complete team it might not like quite the same. I would take out Ronaldinho for a defender probably.

And you have Baresi so that'll be enough to cover all my Forwards. The best I can do is make sure your Forwards don't do anything at all. I'd probably just put in Puyol for Zanetti to give me a good chance at recovering the ball from my zone.

I think it's pretty 50/50 here. It's litterally Attack vs Defense.

Indeed, but if you were intent on playing defensively, you probably would use a different 11 with more defence minded players in the midfield or forward line. I imagine.

I am also rethinking, maybe Eusiabo instead of Batistuta....

Nice lineup but lets have in mind several points, the width of a pitch is approx. 70 meters, and the length is approximately 100m. With 3 mean at the back and one man covering you would be killed against any team on the counter no matter how good the back three are.

If you face a team like mine how are you going to stop the counter, and how are you planning on opening the defense.

Barca play 3 at the back now, possession is the answer to everything. Control possession, control the game, press high and stop counters before they take place. The amount of men it would take to stop the attack would diminish any teams counter. You cant afford to leave 3 men up the pitch vs this team, and even if you do, its 3 v 3.

Also, your only defending with 6 players, Ronaldinho and Maradona arent going to help you.

You cant stop this kind of attack with 6 players, especially as one of them is Roberto Carlos. Garrincha would run him a mock.

I have Stam as a sub and can move Maldini to the left, or play Koeman CB and put in Ancelotti. Anyway Barca are playing 3 back line now but how are they looking on the counter, imagine if the are facing Maradona, vanBasten, and rONALDINHO.

I can sub either Ronaldinho or vanBasten and play Messi instead, then how will your defense look at the counter???

Sure, but if I knew your team before we played a imaginary game I might change my line up based on your team aswell.

--------------------------Oliver Kahn----------------------------

---Carlos Alberto---Puyol------The Wall---Roberto Carlos----

----Zanetti--------Fernando Redondo-----Lothar Matthäus----

-----------------Messi------------Maradona-----------------------

------------------------------Pele--------------------------------------

Subs:Ronaldinho, R9, Kaka, Lucas Moura, Biscuits, Lucio, Julio Cesar.

Since this evolved into more discussion here is a bit of an explanation for my selections.

My main weakness in this team at first glance is midfield but for what I'm thinking their function will be I think its a good midfield. Zanetti can play any where but I particularly like how he switches positions with Maicon when he bombs forward so I think the same can be done with Carlos Alberto. Redondo was great holding midfielder, same with Matthaus , that will enable the team to have high possession of the ball. Maradona and Messi are good at tracking back to get the ball in which case a midfielder moves up the line and thats something that characterize Matthaus in his career. He scored many goals jumping from midfield and joining attack.

The Defense is great with Puyol who is great at defensing as the last man and Samuel who when he was younger was a great last man tackler. Since I project to have the ball for most of the game thats a great attribute for the defense.

Personally I think Samuel struggles in possession teams because they mostly play with a high line to maximise possession and he isnt mobile enough for it.

I think Dani killed it, but i'm too defensive minded to suggest his high risk possession game...

And before anyone complains about Ibra's inclusion please that note that Massimilano Allegri would never drop Zlatan for any forward in the world past or present :coffee:

Edit: Im just going to write anything here and make you read this till the fullstop.

Seems legit, though I think your CM would match up much better with a Stark-Texeira partnership.
