El Shaarawy valued at €20m

Genoa have revealed the pricey financial details that will see Milan sign a half share in Stephan El Shaarawy on Friday.

Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi had previously insisted that the 18-year-old would not be sold this summer, but Milan’s massive offer has seen him change his mind.

“Their bid surprised me,” he told Il Corriere Mercantile. “I really didn’t expect it at all, otherwise I wouldn’t have made those statements last week.

“The Rossoneri valued him at €20m. So that is €10m for a half share in him now, but the value of his other half can increase too if he does well.

“Overall, it’s a deal worth €25m and I just couldn’t say no.”

As part of the negotiations, Genoa will sign a half share in Rossoneri youngster Alexander Merkel in return.

“I’ve read that we will pay €1.3m for Merkel, but that’s not true,” added Preziosi. “He’ll cost us €5m because Milan value him at €10m.

“He is very young, but he is also ready for our championship.”

El Shaarawy, an attacking midfielder, has only played three games in Serie A for Genoa and 27 in Serie B while on loan at Padova this season.

Midfielder Merkel, meanwhile, is just 19 and he has made only six top-flight appearances for the Rossoneri. They all arrived this term.

“I understand the disappointment of the fans that we are losing a youngster like El Shaarawy, but I have to put the good of Genoa first,” Preziosi added.

“The kind of offer Milan made was one that you have to accept in an instant.”

That's ridiculous he's not worth that much and neither is Merkel.

That's just Preziosi trying to make Genoa fans believe that they got a good deal for their talent El Shaarawy. In reality Galliani again showed he is the best

What a complete and total rip off. We better get a better deal then this. I would pull the plug on this deal immediately.

Worth every penny, he is the best young Italian talent, he could possibly be our next Kaka. You have to take risks and this one is a very good one, I have all the faith in this kid. I've seen him play in person I know what he can do.

Sorry but he can't be worth every penny til he actually does something. I personally think this deal is bad one. When we sell this kid he probably won't even be half the price.

Why are you being so pessimistic? El Shaarawy can really be something for us, let's wait and watch.

Have faith in what? Blowing our chances in the CL on an unproven nobody? Overspending on a kid that has proved absolutely nothing? Please don't compare him to Kaka.

exactly what i think!, this reminds me of the boateng story, bought by genoa and then loaned to milan and Preziosi actually went out to explain why genoa loaned him out to us by saying that prince sinply wasn't good enough to play for genoa...

As much as I love this prospect, how on earth is someone from Serie B hardly proven just talented and potential be worth 20m? I might aswell buy Abate then for that same price...

That website is biased and not based on actual figures.

HE's not worth less. I've seen players undervalued by that website all the time and not represent actual market figures.
