The FA just screwed us.
Newcastle away and then half of our season in 2 weeks.
Liverpool and then manu and sandwiched between them uefa qualifiers.
Not qualifying for europe would be disastrous.
Newcastle away wont be easy either.
We will need a stroger squad then last season to cope with the first few weeks.
ONe positive arsenal tend to start the season strong.
This season luck did not wait to kick arsenal in the balls during mid-season
it gave us a good kick in the nuts before the season even started.

I've updated the first post with the full list of fixtures plus dates. Dates are very likely to change, however.
Look at it this way: Newcastle away is tough and a point wouldn't be too bad to start the season with, although we can very much get all three. The same with Liverpool at home.
United tend to be slow startes and I suppose if there's any time to play them, it'd be in August.
If Arsenal can perhaps win one and draw the other two, plus qualify for the Champions League I think it'd be a good month.

IF, big big IF, we manage to sort our mentality issues, we will have enough time to recover from the butt kicking we may be in store for in august.. Chelsea did manage to go from 7th to title challengers in half a season.. Can't get worse than that for us,now can it?

It'd be awesome to draw some real easy team for the CL qualifiers, and come out of this with 9 points and a CL spot.. I'd put us on title contenders if we pull that off!

Also to put it another way: tough fixtures early on mean Arsenal have to be switched and focused from the very beginning. No easing our way into the season this time.
Imagine what 9 points would do to our morale and the belief of the fans.

Nope.. buying looking at that list would make Wenger more of an impulsive buyer.. He isn't one.. His judgement would exclusively depend on the squad and quality at his disposal, not the fixtures of one season..

Re: 2011/2012 Premier League Fixtures (17/06/2011 09:00)
Yes, I am well aware of our tendancy to collapse.
But after how last season ended, I think the club as whole (players, management, fans) just needs a boost in morale and a good start can provide that.
This season coming up is probably going to be the most competitive for a while, so we can't afford to be feeling sorry for ourselves after the first month of games.

Re: 2011/2012 Premier League Fixtures (17/06/2011 09:00)
Alright fixtures i guess. We need a strong start to the season and im confident that with the players wenger is bringing this summer. We can get decent amount of points early on.
Theres nothing to be afraid of really. It doesnt matter what happens from august till december. The real title race starts from jan, unless you are 15 points behind...
So, like jay said, lets go in with confidence and try our best.

Looking at the fixtures of all the clubs...damn. I just realized that there are no "easy" games anymore. Every game seems to be very hard or tricky.

Re: 2011/2012 Premier League Fixtures (17/06/2011 09:00)
I agree with abirking that we've been screwed. If we get one of the more difficult teams in the CL qualifiers, it could be a disaster. That doesn't mean it will be a disaster, but it is very likely that we will drop some points and be behind in the title race right off the bat. This could be a mental edge to our rivals.
Of course, if we win all of those games we would be on top of the world

Tough fixtures at the very beginning will show if we've learned lessons from the past season. I expect us to fight for all those points, and at least be undefeated for the opening five fixtures aswell as the CL qualifiers.
We have an excellent chance of seeing if this team has matured, and whether our new players perform in the big games.

Re: 2011/2012 Premier League Fixtures (17/06/2011 09:00)
Well to tell ya'll the truth, i'm pretty much very satisfied with the fixture list...
I mean we don't get a lot of tough games continuously, except the Liverpool then United in the 2nd and 3rd week. Providing we start the season good like we usually do, I don't see much a problem in that.
*Our November matches ain't that tough on paper. West Brom, Norwich and Fulham...
*And then also our run in to the end of the season doesn't look tough, either. We juz need to be more focused in the 2nd half of the season like we usually are in the 1st half. The players know what has happened to us in previous seasons, therefore they'll know there's no room for complacency!
*I always like it when we get Man Utd away first, and then later on at the Emirates. I think we always give them a tight game at Old Trafford and then we always have a better chance later on at the Emirates in the business end of the season.
There's no doubts that the first month will be crucial for us. Getting Newcastle (a), Liverpool (h), and United (a) is tough, we all know that, and to add more misery we still have a Champions League play-off. And who knows it could be against a tough opponent like Bayern Munich.
Anyways, I hope we won't get a tough team. And juz cruise into the Champions League, and then take 6 out of 9 in the first 3 matches. We Must.
PLEASE ARSENAL! We Must
