Arsenal v QPR Preview
Arsenal v QPR, Saturday 31st December, 3pm, Premier League, Emirates Stadium
Thierry Henry is set to sign a 2-month loan deal with the gunners
Premier League Table
1. Man City 45pts
2. Man utd 45pts
3. Spurs 38pts
4. Chelsea 34pts
5. Arsenal 33pts
-------
16. QPR 17pts
Arsenal draw with keeper-inspired Wolves
The draw at home to Wolves was a huge disappointment considering the form Arsenal have shown prior to Wednesday afternoon. The visitor's keeper Wayne Hennessey was in inspired form as he denied the frustrated gunners time and time again. Arsene Wenger's side can look to the positives though, 8 wins in their last 11 league games is more than impressive.
QPR enjoying mixed campaign
Neil Warnock's QPR side have had an indifferent Premier League season thus far. A 4-0 defeat on the opening day of the campaign at home to Bolton was not a sign of things to come, as last season's championship winners won the following week away at Everton. A 3-0 win away at Wolves was followed by a 6-0 defeat at Fulham, before an excellent home win at home to 9-man Chelsea. But the Londoners have not won in the league since 19th November, including 4 defeats in their last 6 league games.
Match Facts
* Arsenal have scored 299 goals in Premier League London derbies.
* The Gunners have won 13% of Premier League games against QPR, their worst win percentage against any opponent in the Premier League era.
* Five of the eight Premier League meetings between Arsenal and QPR have ended as draws.
* Arsenal and QPR met at Highbury on December 31st 1994 when John Jensen famously scored his only goal for the club in a 1-3 defeat.
* Arsenal have won 12 and lost just two of the 20 league meetings at home to QPR.
* The Gunners have scored only one goal in each of their last three Premier League home matches.
* In Arsenal's last 15 Premier League games at the Emirates, they have only managed to score more than one goal four times.
* Arsenal have scored 19 goals in their last 15 Premier League home matches.
Team News
Arsenal
Sagna, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Santos, Diaby and Wilshere are all injured. Henry cannot sign until Sunday (January 1st), but Walcott returns from illness.
QPR
Ferdinand, Hulse and Dyer are all injured.
Arsenal subs - Fabianski Miquel Coquelin Rosicky Benayoun Arshavin Chamakh
Pre-match manager quotes
Arsene Wenger
"Every game is difficult. We want to bounce back, we dropped two points against Wolves. It was frustration and a disappointment. But the spirit of this team is exceptionally good, they will bounce back. If you look at the consistency we have shown in the last 11 games, we have only lost once, at Man City."
Neil Warnock
"It is great to get somebody in for a couple of months if you can. Unfortunately for us we have not found anybody at the moment. As for Henry, it is fantastic. I do love him. I think he is an amazing player and for me to see him back in the Premier League is brilliant. I am just glad the transfer window does not open until 1st January. He is everything you like about football and oozes class."
Prediction
Arsenal simply have to beat QPR. The frustrating performance against Wolves meant we failed to climb into the top 4, so we have little margin for error from now on in. It's vital we beat QPR on Saturday. Then 48 hours later we go to Fulham which is always a tricky game. I fancy Arsenal to beat QPR.

Nice perview Sam.
A must win game and I dont care about RVP record but would be nice to see him score 1 or 2 goals. Must win this no screw ups.
*bleep* Barton.

Re: Arsenal v QPR Preview
we know the pattern
they defend, we attack, they hit us on counter. Repeat.
I am pretty sure we will win this because liverpool didnt drop points, so we really have to win this.
I dont care about van persie's record. he needs to focus on the task of 3 points.
With theo back, i expect us to score more goals. Ramsey back would be great as well.
If we are winning 3-0 at HT, take van persie off at 60th min

Re: Arsenal v QPR Preview
yeah they wont be able to keep the ball as much and would play long balls over the top of our defence
against utd with Roonaaay and wellbeck drifting in to flanks and it was too much for them to cope with
also jones runs in the box caused them problems
Aaron should make those runs and take advantage of that
traore's positioning
looking forward to theo vs traore
evra was beaten by mackie at times
verm will keep him on his pockets
oh and let look at their corners vs swansea
so many played around penalty spot to their center backs we should be wary

As our tradition, Traore will transform to Maldini just for this game only

Re: Arsenal v QPR Preview
I'll be very disappointed if Walcott doesn't completely destroy Traore. Don't think I've seen a full back with worse positional sense than him.
I've got a bit of a bad feeling about this game. We know how these sorts of games play out and for some reason I can't quite forsee this being a comfortable victory. I guess I've just seen smaller teams come here and get a goal somehow and us flounder about with our chances too many times to expect us to sweep these teams aside.

I read an article suggesting we push Gervinho over to the right flank to try to wear Traore down and that would actually be an excellent idea seeing as that's his specialty, mangling fullbacks.

Re: Arsenal v QPR Preview
Yes, Mackie has been deployed on the right of midfield but I sense Warnock bring back SWP for this one to run at Vermaelen.
As for Mackie, his work-rate is too good for him not to be used somehow, so I moved him to the left, where I believe he has played once or twice this season.
