According to reports Bertrand is Going to Cole's successor
Apparently, Bertrand has impressed AVB so much that PVA has been overlooked as Cole's successor.
I don't have any links in me but they're not very reliable so I wouldn't say this is a sure thing but at depending on what happens in January, I think there could be some truth to it.
Overall Bertrand is probably a better defender but PVA is better in attack and is younger.
Maybe AVB wants a secure defence and that is why he has 'chosen' Bertrand.

Re: According to reports Bertrand is Going to Cole's successor
Eh? How can we just decide who's going to replace Cole out of two youngsters? They have to prove themselves and then they can succeed Cole.
Villas-Boas said the club were not looking for a new LB because of the price and because he liked what Bertrand had to offer. The media has portrayed this as him saying Bertrand will definitely succeed Cole, which is complete bullocks. Van Aanholt nor Bertrand have done enough to make a decision yet.
But it's interesting why Aanholt was loaned but Bertrand wasn't. If Bertrand has any chance of replacing Cole he'll have to go on loan but if he goes on loan then we'll have no back up LB (Luiz is terrible there).

I agree, figured it was thread worthy but I do not think he has made a final choice yet, he has a few years before he has to.

Wouldn't mind to see him being rotated next season. He isn't dominant anymore and has been making defensive mistakes.

Yep, he doesn't look that sharp on a regular basis anymore. Really wish he can get some rest and rotated with Bertrand.
