Luis Suarez banned for Fulham gesture

Liverpool will be without Luis Suarez for Friday's home game with Newcastle United after the Football Association handed down a one-match ban and £20,000 fine for a gesture made towards Fulham fans.


Suarez, who is also facing a seperate eight-match ban for the use of racist language towards Patrice Evra, was pictured apparently giving supporters a one-fingered gesture and admitted the charge.

Liverpool were also fined £20,000 for failing to control their players after Jay Spearing was sent off in the match. The club contested the fine but the FA upheld the decision.

A statement released by the FA read: "Liverpool Football Club have been fined £20,000 by The FA and warned as to their future conduct for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the league fixture at Fulham on 5 December 2011.

"The club admitted the charge, which was in relation to the dismissal of Jay Spearing, but did not accept the standard £20,000 penalty for the offence. However, at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [Wednesday 28 December] the fine was imposed.

"Meanwhile, Liverpool player Luis Suarez will begin a one match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct in relation to the same game.

"Suarez was also fined £20,000 and warned as to his future conduct following a gesture he made towards the Fulham fans at the end of the fixture."



Funny how Wolverhampton don't get fined after their players incident after Milias' sending of or Dempsey trying to literally peel of Bellamy's face.

suarez is a very dirty player, maybe all this is just karma, cuz i pretty much remember him biting someones neck in the eredivisie and he never got fined or suspended for it.

Arq, those offences are much less tame to what Suarez did. You cannot insult other sets of fans, in front of cameras everywhere. He deserved to get banned and I honestly can't believe it's only one game.

What are u talking about he was banned for half of the season for that action if i remember correctly
