Cristiano Ronaldo-the most overrated player of all time?

The two from the game against Atl were just outside the box and they were absolutely terrible.

His technique/way he hits the ball is perfect for distance shots but when they're that close he need to contemplate switching it up.

He's too rigid in how he hits the ball.. i think we can all agree his shot is pretty damn scary and accurate.. but he tries to knuckle the ball from 22m ffs

Free kick taking is not just about how good you hit the ball.. its how you judge the trajectory and placement. CR doesn't have that judgement..

CR7 can be incredibly ineffectual at times (free-kicks hitting the wall, dribbling past nobody, etc. etc.) and he is known to go missing in big games.
BUT, bottom line he is the BEST. How many other players in the World have scored over 30 goals in every season for the past 6 years? How many have over 40 for 5 of those seasons? He also holds the record for most goals scored in a la liga season... ever. The only player to come close (and, by all means, surpass him in the past) is Messi. And Messi never performed with Ronaldo's same consistency wearing any jersey other than a Barcelona one... Ronaldo has proven his worth in a United shirt, a Madrid shirt as well as in his national colours.

As for calling him a big game failure, you will find that he performs in all of the big games, save for a rare few. Think of how he played in the do-or-die World Cup play-off against Sweden. Think about his performances against Barcelona (when Madrid won the title in 2012)... I can go on.
Even if he has a bad game, he has been able to grab goals at times.

I am posting because we just lost in Clasico and he was the flop of the match and that is not acceptable for a player who you people claim to be the best.

CR7 perhaps tries too hard in classicos. May be he needs to relax a bit. But then he is the best player in world on his day. We have overrated players? YES. Is CR7 one? NO WAY.

That will never happen. As long as ronaldo is in the team he will be the main scorer. He is a SS that leaves gaps all over the pitch so he can score. When he doesn't score he does nothing of note. Di Maria has to act as a winger and CM, hence why Barcelona always had the numerical advantage in the centre despite Madrid having a '3' in mf. Once people accept Ronaldo for what he is they will stop being disappointed.

@ jibers, i understand ure point but when i say 'being the focus' it doesn't necessarily equate to being the main scorer...but rather someone who can dictate the tempo and control the pace of the game, especially on offense (not alonso, he's not dynamic enough), cristiano can be restricted to simply scoring goals off plays run by such a player....i think di maria has the ability to take up that role, as play maker
