Re: The Cex Appreciation Thread
He wasn't that great. Everyone played well in our team, Cesc too, but he was one of the most invisible players.

Seems like Cex is Barca's version of Ronaldo on here.

Re: The Cex Appreciation Thread
Actually discussing just how good Cesc is for Barca in the Barca section too.
Playing him reduces our width naturally which can be a problem as shown by some some lower teams who park the bus vs us this season and got results. What do u guys think about that? Should Guardiola left him out and go for width instead of over crowding the middle when up against bus parkers?

Re: The Cex Appreciation Thread
Sex is great. Give him time to adjust to Barca's standards. Sex is used to being deployed in a deeper position, but in no way will he displace Xavi or Iniesta any time soon. The striker role is new to him, so at least he's improving bit by bit.
I thought he had a few brilliant passes and awesome crosses that should have been assists were Barca players not midgets :lucas:

Was one of the best Barca players tonight, made a penalty and the best Barca chance both missed by Messi.
Great performance tonight.

Completely agree he was one of the few that looked like doing something.
I do think still that Thiago is better in a deeper role but they should both play together.

still remember when I was 11 seeing an 18 year old Sex schooling madrid in the midfield, then school Juventus midfield of Viera and Nedved, get owned by Riquelme( riquelme was a boss that season)..
good times, the reasons he left just kind of annoys you when you know Arsenal owners have a combined networth of $14 Billion and can buy atleast 3 world class players anymoment..
oh well

Re: The Cex Appreciation Thread
Remember the "Cesc can't play CM" debate? Well Mourinho seems to disagree with that notion. He's retierated several times after he signed in June that his best position was deeper and he's done so again last night.
Time for some people to eat crow.
The Chelsea manager has long been aware of the players' skills and was happy to see him shine as the title-favourites got their season off to a flying start.
“Fabregas was our first choice for that position. I know clearly what the player is because we were so long in the same league," he said.
“He moved to Spain also, so for the last 10 years we have been in the same league for six or seven. I know exactly what he will bring. For Barça he was the fake nine, the number ten and winger but I know and he knows what is his best position so he is giving exactly what we need. Quick thinking in midfield. He brings people in the same direction. I am really happy.”

Waiting for GL experts to counter Mourinho's judgement

Re: The Cex Appreciation Thread
For Barca and Spain he couldn't which is all anyone ever said.
What Mourinho asks from his CMs and what Barca and Spain do is entirely different.
Try again.

Yeh Spain and Barca require quick and agile midfielders who can dribble in tight spaces etc.

They are DMs tbf, it's a little different and Busquets is fantastic in tight spaces.
It's probably one of his key attributes.
And I just saw Xavi he's probably the best CM in tight spaces in the history of football lol.

Re: The Cex Appreciation Thread
It's one thing being capable of and good at working in tight spaces and it's another actually dribbling in tight spaces tbh
Of which all of the above I would class in the former category
Of the Spain and Barca CMs I would say only Iniesta and Silva actually dribble in tight spaces the rest use good body shuffles and faints to create a yard to get a pass off. As opposed to literally dribbling in tight spaces to drive forward.
Either way imo Cesc can play for both Barca and Spain but because he scored a lot more goals than the aforementioned I believe he was shifted forward to try and accommodate him without interfering with Xavi, Busquets Iniesta etc. That's my opinion anyway

What he means by dribbling in tight spaces is creating space for himself in tight spaces.
Confusing choice of words I know.

Re: The Cex Appreciation Thread
It's amazing how great a talent Fabregas is. Probably the best teenage player there's ever been apart from the obvious few (Pele, R9). He was dominating the likes of Viera and Zidane at 18 which is absolutely insane.
He's got the goalscoring ability of Frank Lampard (70 goals over his last 5 seasons which is better than some CM's career total) & the vision/playmaking ability of a true #10, the likes of Messi, Ronaldinho, Socrates, Rui Costa, Maradona, Riquelme, Laudrup, Zidane etc he's as good a passer as most of those players and in some cases even better.
All that's left for him to prove as a player is if he can control and dictate games at the highest levels like greats such as Xavi, Pirlo, Scholes, Matthaus. His current manager certainly believes he can.
For someone constantly described as not being a "Mourinho type player" ad nauseam, he's given him the best platform to make the most of his talents unlike Wenger and his boyhood club. He has a wizard in Hazard that will create space for him and pick him out for goalscoring chances, he's got several runners in Costa, Schurrle, Salah etc & most importantly, he's playing alongside workhorses like Oscar, Matic, Ramires that will cover up gaps and negate his average engine.
More performances like Burnley yesterday and the accolades & trophies will come.

Re: The Cex Appreciation Thread
the hype chelsea fans create is just incredible. I mean just one game and they start calling him world class which clearly he isnt. What difference does signing him make this is the same club which sold mata and has oscar for the same position but they still couldn't win anything. They will get tired of him sooner I know mourinho his system won't stand such a player. Let the season continue.

Last I checked the madrid fans said he wasn't wc
All the Barca fans just didn't like him, because he didn't fit in our team not that he sucked
