Re: Leonardo Dicaprio
Okay, now that I have watched both Dallas Buyers Club and The Wolf Of Wall Street, I can say it without hesitation that Matthew McConaughey will win Best Actor over Leo deservedly this Oscar.
Which brings me to the question, how many Oscars do you think Leo should have won? I say a minimum of two Best Actor for The Aviator and Shutter Island. I am unsure about 2006. I saw Blood Diamond like five times and The Last King Of Scotland just once so obviously I remember DiCaprio's performance over Forest Whitaker's. 2011 J Edgar? Best supporting actor for Gilbert Grape? I don't know who won that year.

Aviator was the biggest snub for me. I don't think he was the best in any other role in a given year. So I think he should've won 1

Gilbert Grape and The Aviator are the ones he should have won for. Also think he was the best supporting role in all of cinema last year, in Django, and he wasn't even nominated
Seriously.. no way Tommy Lee Jones was better in The Fugitive, than he was in Gilbert Grape

Should have won it for Inception but some shitty kings speech won nearly all the awards undeservedly.

No he should definitely not have won for Inception. The movie in itself should have won though, was by far the best of 2010 in my opinion. But Dicaprio wasn'tRealGunner wrote:Should have won it for Inception but some shitty kings speech won nearly all the awards undeservedly.

At least one.
I haven't seen all the films in question but i have seen The Aviator and its one of my favourite films of all time and his performances was GOAT.
Absolute joke he didn't win for that.

I'm never sure how movies like The King's Speech and Slumdog Millionaire get as many Oscars as they do. Now I liked The King's Speech, I thought it was a great, uplifting movi- didn't think it was 4 Oscar wins and however many Oscar nominations good. Slumdog Millionaire was even better, I love Danny Boyle, and was a great movie too, but 8 Oscars?
Anyway... back on topic, Leo probably should have won for The Aviator.
How old is this thread ffs

Re: Leonardo Dicaprio
Inception should have won Best Picture and Leo should have won Best Actor for Shutter Island in 2010 IMO.

Re: Leonardo Dicaprio
Bunch of people from Inception got hard done, but Leo was not one of them. I disagree with the Django one too, though I didn't think they would give it to Waltz again, but Waltz carried that movie.
The Aviator and The Departed come to mind, though i can't say he outright deserved it. But at the end of the day, someone like him usually gets it, at least once, whether they deserve it or not.

Colin Firth in The King's Speech >>> Leo in Inception.RealGunner wrote:Should have won it for Inception but some shitty kings speech won nearly all the awards undeservedly.
Inception >>>>>>>>> The King's Speech.
That basically says enough. The King's Speech is a good movie. I enjoyed it really, but Inception are just levels above and should've won everything that year (except best actor and supporting actor category) Inception won all of the "technical things" and The King's Speech the more prestigious Oscars.
Tom Hooper winning the best director Oscar over Chris Nolan is as big a snub to me as all of the Oscar snubs combined.
Anyway, I say this again Leo killed it in The Aviator. And that's the only one he should've won also really. His other performances weren't worthy over the actual actor who won in that respective year.

The Aviator was the best Di Caprio performance I have seen. It was an emotionally and conceptually deep portrayal of Howard Hughes that required technically demanding acting. This was his most Oscar-worthy role IMO.
