Platini was a big part of Calcio and what Juventus achieved when he was playing. There are worse options to give the award to.
Baggio winning is also 100% right decision imo.

I dont see why this is so controversial, only Maradona has a right to claim this award above Platini from what i have seen.

Maradona's Clacio career ended in disgrace. No way he was going to get it.

Anyone would think they'd awarded it to Luther Blissett

Is Maradona Italian? That could've eliminated him from the competition
Same goes for Sivori

Yeah Maradona is Italian that's why his Argentina jersey always had 4 world cup stars on it.

Re: Platini recognised as best foreign player in Italian football history
It was only Maradona v Platini anyway, and Maradona f*cked up his sending-off.
So Platini had to win it. People seem to froget it easily, because he's a pain in the ass these days, but Platini was a god with the ball at his feet in the day, better than Zidane.

No Sivori is just forgotten in general
Truth is Platini and Maradona's careers overlapped in Italy with Platini reigning supreme throughout. Comparing both players numbers while in Italy there is no great chasm, Maradona edges it, but in terms of Silverware Platini blows him out the water.
That of course owes a lot to the fact Platini played in what is (for me) a top ten club team of all time, but since it often struggles to break top 30 on theese lists that are compiled from time to time () then it can't have been that much of a deciding factor...right?
Notwithstanding Platini was just a really great player and so crucially, his father was Italian

As far as I'm concerned Argentina's jersey should have 6 stars, because I consider Uruguay to be another province
Anyways, you know that's not what I meant

Is this a joke?
Maradona + Napoli. Nothing even comes close. And that's not limited to Italian football.
