For me it is Hummels by a country mile. haven't seen a so elegant ball player in CB position for years,this guy can easily play a distributive midfielder role,his passing is that good.Also his defending is not bad either.

I havent seen TS making mistakes when dribbling, passing through opponents even in very dangerous situations in all his seasons in Italia. One of the best ball skills I ve seen in 14 years watching football.

Pique is better on the ball than TS,and hummels is league above Pique on the ball.

David Luiz is easily the most technically gifted defender in the game at the moment, not the best defender but his abilities on the ball is unparalleled by any defender atm.

vermealen, but he has been injured so people have forgotten, oh and TS owns man. btw i wasnt impressed with hummels's ball playing skill at the emirates, i felt he kept on giving the ball away...

I do not know how these 2 would fare against the ones listed on the poll but I think Laurent Koscielny and Daniel Agger deserve a mention

@buddy thats because luiz just isnt a defender...he just isnt. he should change position and play DM imo.

Agger is a good shout not so sure about koscienly compared to other elite ball players.

Vermaelen should be in the list though. He is our best ball playing Centre Back, and miles better than Jones in that respect
