League of Legends

Anyone play League of legends?

It's a free game you can download off their website, it's like DOTA if anyone has ever played it.

It's pretty fun, It's all I have been playing for about 2 months.

Yup, Top 1,500 ranked on the NA server during season 1(Phritz)

One of my close friends plays it.

Maybe I should give it a whirl, but really MMO's don't suit me much.

i've played for a few months then lost interest for some reason
its a good game that can easily kill a few hours of your daily routine
you guys should try it

I play frequently and when I mean frequently, I mean like all the time. However, I tend to like pre-made matches and since I don't do much of that anymore due to my cousins having no net, I play A.I a lot which isn't bad as it has less silly trash talking and guys actually communicating with a purpose.

That's from own experience.

Usually play with carries though. Pretty good with Twitch and Vayne and trying to get the hang of LeBlanc...

do I need to pay to play?

thats not exactly acurate, you can still enjoy the game to the fullest without paying a dime, for example you can use money to buy a certain champion, but you can also unlock him after collecting enough points through playing the game

hhmmmm... well can I build on myself ? Like is there benefits from playing a lot and can I interact with my surroundings?

everything you can buy with money you can get through playing the game, except the skins maybe, which are pointless anyway

there is an in-game chat so u can interact with your team and opponents (be ready for some trolling) and you can add people as friends and chat with them through the game's massenger to arrange games and stuff like that

362940 IP to buy every Tier 3 Rune (while you can "boost" your IP gain with money, having a decent amount of runes&rune pages requires time). Now while rune pages may/may not make a big impact in casual play, it makes a huge difference in competitive play. Most Junglers can't live without flat armor yellows (leaves them too low), playing Orianna without mana regen per level is suffocating and don't get me started on playing Akali (my "main") without runes (you need runes to proc both her passives) or any AD carry without Armorpen and Magic Resist per level runes.

It's why all the good players are raging about the Kayle remake, because if you knew how to build her rune-page she was a beast in lane despite what the majority/Riot said(61 AP at level 1 with runes) and was unstoppable vs melee's. And now she's pretty much eve/twitch/shaco tier. (terribad)

Eve is terrible but twitch was pretty good until he got nerfed and now he's a big ass squish ball, just face him and he'll be pwned......hard. I like me some Singed honestly...

Not really, DOTA 2 (which is actually DotA 7) has far too many un-noob friendly mechanics to gain a massive following (It's also why HoN becoming f2p wasn't exactly a success story) - as an e-sport LoL will always be hugely popular, (250,000 concurrent viewers watched the Dreamhack finals whilst there's been around 100,000 for IEM finals) due to it's casual nature. In comparison, while I was working at DotAcast and we casted the ESWC for DotA, even with the massive chinese following (somebody posted our link on the wodota homepage) reached 50k viewers. DOTA 2 will have a large following, but not as large as League of Legends (15 million accounts) which is basically incorporating everyone who got bored of WoW and TF2. i.e. the casual gaming community.

Sion and Jax and be OP in the hands of a great player, but they're not instant win like Tryn or Fiddle. however Shyvana takes the OP crown for now, that character really needs some balancing.

Well AP sion has a great mid-game but all you have to do is break his shield, and as for Jax, he can't really solo top anymore because he gets outclassed + he's easily countered by burst and sword of divinity. Oh and AD Sion isn't really the greatest of laners.

Shyvana is extremely dependant on her ult to be a threat - all she really has going or her is her fast jungle time - she doesn' t have any cc so she's not much of a threat and offers no protection to casters or AD carries as a tank.

If she gets fed from ganks though that's another story.

I main solo top (Akali, Irelia, Nasus, Nidalee, Sivir, Cho'Gath, Pantheon, Gangplank, Garen, Jarvan VI) and support (Blitzcrank, Janna, Alistair, Sona, Taric, Soraka, Karma, Zilean) but I also AP mid with Orianna, Annie, Anivia, Brand, Cassiopeia, Malzahar, Morgana, Zilean and Lux.
