Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
I would like it if he does this consistently and against big teams i mean scoring consistently and being much more decisive for his team ,then he would probably get the "credit" he deserves.

Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
I only just realised it was an old thread. Looked over some of the old comments and they say exactly what I was going to write. He has to do great things against great opposition.

Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
Lol at he needs to score in big games. He scores against Barca, Chelsea, Man United, City against Champion League teams and he still needs to score against big teams
Thing is he needs more consistency against lower teams not big teams. He's a big game player but tends to disappear in games where he has no space a.k.a park the bus teams.

Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
Yea if anything Theo is one of the few players that consistently shows up against big teams. He will punish anyone who chooses not to park the bus in front of the net. He just has a tough time exploiting the space when defenders sit deep. Naturally, If he were to play in the middle, he would probably have better results against the bus parking teams.
Also, Hopefully we will tie him down with a huge contract.

I don't rate Gump that highly.
Arsenal could certainly do better.

Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
Walcott should play as CF or as someone who won't need to create/dribble/cross, basically an inside forward.
He's a good finisher and he's quick.

Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
Walcot isn't good enough to play as a long CF however, he could be quite good as the small in a big-small 4-4-2 system.
too bad it's an outdated formation.

Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
I don't think he'd work in a big-small 4-4-2.
Usually the big guy isn't that good technically and the smaller guy is good at creating, dribbling etc. Walcott isn't.

Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
Stick him next to a tall guy who good with his head. long balls up to the tall, Theo runs on to it. instant 1 v 1 with the keeper.
There is no need for either to create. The tall just needs to head the ball to Walcot. have fast wingers and play the traditional English way. long balls and crosses.

Play him up to, and he'll score you 20+ goals a season.

I disagree, on his own he would struggle. you play one CB close to him and he will lose all aerial balls + most of the balls coming into him due to his lack of strength. play a CB slightly off of him to cut out any runs he makes. therefore he'd be useless up top.

That just us, though. We play Giroud up top, we try to walk through a team. We play Feo up top, watch us try to cross balls in to him

Re: Walcott: Forever underrated?
Playing Walcott as a CF is like telling Pedro or a better example Sturridge to play CF it would never work in a million years.
Walcott in a inside forward, his role last season where he comes off the line when RVP drops deep was perfect for him.
And he isn't worth 100k, nowhere near it.
Arsenal should keep him if they can for a reasonable wage but he shouldn't be playing CF give that to Giroud.
I remember seeing Walcott and Giroud link up exceedingly well in pre season and Walcott's crosses for once had a target to aim for.
Go back to Podolski-Giroud-Walcott.

I dream of seeing a sort of 4-4-1-1 with Gervinho or Walcott being the withdrawn 1 and Giroud or Poldi leading the line upfront.
Obviously, Cazorla would be pushed to the wide areas but we could actually have a guy who can cross to Giroud for once in him.
A player of his age having almost 250 appearances with 50 goals is no small feat, especially considering he plays on the wing 90% of a game.
