I will tolerate him if he continues to do his job, i.e. playing football to the best of his abilities for the club he's contracted to.urbaNRoots wrote:Will Liverpool fans really accept him after his comments?

Carragher wrote:Luis Suarez is too good for Liverpool. He is one of the top players in the world, whereas Liverpool were only the seventh best team in England last season.
His talents are greater than the stage on which he plays. Not only does he deserve to play in the Champions League, he should be winning it.
Luis Suarez is also too good for Arsenal. In recent years, they haven’t challenged for trophies; they have not made an impact in the Champions League and they are no closer to winning the Premier League.
If Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich wanted him, I would wish Luis all the luck in the world and staunchly defend him.
That is his level; teams who have a great chance of winning the Champions League. That’s why I'm so puzzled by his determination to leave for the Emirates.
Carragher recently took part in a Liverpool training session in preparation for Steven Gerrard's testimonial, and he says he was alarmed at the effort put in by the Uruguayan, who has since been made to train alone.
He didn’t want the ball and had no interest in getting involved. He stood on the periphery, with shoulders slumped.
It didn’t surprise me that Brendan Rodgers has made him train on his own. I never thought Luis would down tools in the way Fernando Torres did when he wanted to leave Liverpool - his attitude over the final 18 months became progressively worse - but now Suarez has given me reason to think again.
To see it come to this is very dispiriting.

Agree with Carragher. He should be looking to move to a better team than Arsenal.

Re: Luiz Suarez
Carra's got it spot on. Of course Arsenal have CL right now. However, they're not one piece away from winning it. Luis deserves (based on his football) to be playing at a team capable of challenging for the trophy. Arsenal adding him would obviously makes them better, but it would not instantly make them favorites for anything. At best, they could hope to be "in the mix" for the title and reach the later stages of the CL. Tbh, I'm not even completely sure how Luis would fit into Arsenal's set-up. He and Walcott would be a dream pairing (one I admitedly hoped to see at LFC), but the rest of the attack...? I think he would take Cazorla's creative burden, and he drops deep enough at times to get in the way of Wilshere's movement. As much as teams crave his production and skill, his positioning and strengths actually present tactical problems. He's not a pure CF, but he can over-balance the attack if played anywhere else.
As for if he will be accepted back at LFC: yes. If he puts his head down, works hard, and eventually produces, he will be "accepted". However, it will be a long journey if he wishes to regain the status that he once had, and it's one I don't think he will stick around to make. I think he will be off within the next two windows to a team outside of England. The current "solution" where Suarez stays and eventually plays for another season seems a pragmatic one for both parties. However, bridges have been burned, and if we can replace him with a few higher-profile players, we will.
Of course, the ideal for Liverpool (competitively, not emotionally) is that Luis pulls his head out and comes back in the form he was in last season. This inspires Liverpool to push on and get Champions League football next season, satisfying all of Luis's and the club's current competitive desires.

Re: Luiz Suarez
As much as i rate Suarez for his footballing abilities, what is this "Luis deserves to be playing at a team capable of challenging for the trophy"? what?
He deserves that how? because he had a first successful season in England?
Playing the CL is a big deal enough for him as of now, where he has lots to prove, and Arsenal is a fantastic opportunity for him. Not to mention that they are a team that play the quarters almost all the time. He can definitely be the element that takes them a notch higher to the semis and after that it's fair game to everyone.

yeah, normally copy it if it took a long time to write in case I was timed out or something, didn't bother this time because it didn't take long
meh, doesn't matter lol
the gist of it was until suarez has CL winning/competing teams trying to sign him arsenal is the best he deserves

Re: Luiz Suarez
Suarez is the latest hyped, hottest striker currently and rated as one of the best in the World. Unfortunately hype is what counts, similar to Bale and past records don't really count. Although Suarez does have a good goalscoring record overall, unlike Bale.
He's at an age now where he needs to move to an elite club. Arsenal and Liverpool are in the same tier in the EPL along with Spurs.

So, what Jamie Carragher is saying, is that he should join Juventus instead
For 10 installments of £5,000,000 per season

Bales overall record is getting compared now
He's been a left back and a left mid ffs. Please stop that.

Re: Luiz Suarez
That's true, however if a club wants a forward then they could take a look at a players overall record to look at how consistent the player was. Bale played one season as a forward, so no one knows whether he'd be able to keep it up the following season.Tomwin Lannister wrote:Yohan Modric wrote:Suarez is the latest hyped, hottest striker currently and rated as one of the best in the World. They need to finish above Everton first before they can be spoken of in the same sentence as those two clubs.

Re: Luiz Suarez
I don't think it's just about table positions. Liverpool have a better team than Everton, they're a bigger club and have more of a big team mentality. Their targets are different to Everton's. I doubt Everton's is to finish in the top 4, whereas Liverpool's is.
Arsenal aren't up there with Man Utd/Chelsea/Man City. They're in a tier below, along with others whose target is 4th place.

Re: Luiz Suarez
table position translates consistency, and in football that's what matter. And Everton has shown last season they were a better football side.
Arsenal being a tier below must be a joke surely, or you are wearing blinders or not watching any games. But this debate is pointless. How about we see how things go this season because looks to me like the playing field as leveled massively.

They have finished below Everton for 2 years running, being a bigger club and having bigger mentality according to you means absolutely nothing.
And they haven't finished above Arsenal since 2009, this is just plain delusion.
Until they prove it Liverpool are not on the level of Spurs or Arsenal.

Re: Luiz Suarez
Except Suarez said he would stay even if they didnt make the CLCavani: "The Liverpool coach can talk about loyalty and disrespect, but maybe he needs to look up what it means."
“Luis had the chance last year to join a big club like Juventus, who went on to win the league in Italy.
“But, instead, he chose to stay and fight with Liverpool. Now, that’s what you call loyalty.
“I’ve known about his agreement with Liverpool and understood that he would be leaving, if they were not playing in the Champions League.”
