Re: RIP Gary Speed
I just saw this pop up on a couple of newsfeeds and was genuinely shocked.
There's no news on the cause of his death just yet, but there are some reports from the Telegraph that he committed suicide in his house.
He was a legend of the Premier League and a very bright upcoming manager.
RIP.

Re: RIP Gary Speed
Apparently it is suicide.
Depression is an illness and hence strikers regardless of how rich, talented, or handsome you are.
Condolences to the Speed family.
R.I.P Garry.
Hope this matter sheds light on the real depression problem in football.

Re: RIP Gary Speed
The former Leeds, Everton, Newcastle and Bolton midfielder was found hanged at his home in Chester this morning.
Police say there are no supsicious circumstances surrounding the 42-year-old's death.
The Football Association of Wales confirmed the news, saying that Speed's family had authorised the release of the information.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "At 7.08am this morning, sunday 27 November, police were informed of an incident at Aldford Road, Huntington. Officers went to the scene where a 42-year-old man was found dead. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and next of kind have been informed." Re: RIP Gary Speed
Suicide?
OMG, he was one of my favourite players growing up and a proper bloke wanted him to come back as part of the backroom staff one day.....
This is truly upsetting.
Like Spencer said i hope this shines some light on depression in football ( and in general mind).....
Very serious issue that has been ignored for far too long.

Re: RIP Gary Speed
Scary that people in such privileged circumstances can develop a depression severe enough to lead them into suicide.
R.I.P. My condolences go out to his family and friends, this is truly tragic.

It's human nature to look for something to worry about. When it isn't money it's usually something else.
People are always subconsciously in survival mode. We need adversity to feel alive.

I don't have sympathy for someone who takes their own life and leaves their kids to grow up without a father.
I just don't understand why he would do this.
Don't mean to sound heartless because I genuinely respected and liked Gary Speed, I'm just in shock and baffled.

Some comments from the NUFC Lads......
John Carver: "Gary was a very close friend and colleague of mine and I am absolutely shattered by the news, it is totally devastating. "
Harper: "I am shocked and devastated at the news. Gary was a great friend, the ultimate professional and will be sorely missed."
Steven Taylor: "I'm totally shocked. He was a top, top man and the complete professional."
Steven Taylor: "When I was coming through the ranks he was the player that all the young lads looked up to."
I am personally still shaking from the news, it has hit me hard ( but considering he was on my favourite players growing up its hardly suprising)
