Bhends you forgot to mention an assist that should've been. Osvaldo was a meter onside, no idea how the linesman could f up that bad...

I *bleep* hate the poor refs in modern football, and no to video technology?! There is no justice in not letting the best goal in Serie A this season go in.

It makes me sick. We kept the mental injured and sold the creative player.

Re: Anyone Watching Roma?
Video technology, would ruin football imo. First of all its a time waste, it likes 3-4 minutes to find out if it was a foul or a penalty for example. Pure time waste. About the modern refs, then I wont comment anything about that since, they are just humans after all, they make the decisions, how they saw it was.Eivindo wrote:I *bleep* hate the poor refs in modern football, and no to video technology?! actually it would take less than a minute. not to mention the arguments that come from wrongly disallowed goals on the pitch waste time themselves. and they'll be cut down if evidence if video evidence is there

It takes an average of 38 seconds in American Football, don't see how it is any different in real football. Also, very good point about the on pitch squabbles.
In fact, anyone who thinks it would take 3-4 minutes for simple decisions to be made is not thinking straight.
Not to mention that these incidents (straight reds, disallowed goals, Zidane head butts, penalty claims) only happen a couple of times in one game. Penalties should only be checked after being awarded, with a flag system used by the coaches as is used in American football.

Re: Anyone Watching Roma?
Plus, less diving, playacting, handballing etc will occur, because players know that they can't get away with it. As a result, less dodgy crap happens, and the game still runs as smoothly (if not more), while justice is always guaranteed.Lord Spencer wrote:andiii wrote:The xcx wrote:Video technology, would ruin football imo. Re: Anyone Watching Roma?
I personally favor a 'challenge' system like the one used in tennis. Managers would get, say, 3 'challenges' per game which would cut down on time spent discussing decisions but would still feel fair. By limiting the challenges to such a low amount only the most important ones would get challenged (ie: yellows probably wouldn't, offsides goals would) and only if the manager is sure that the ref was wrong, otherwise he would rather save it for a future miscall. As such we wouldn't see every call get questioned. It would also maintain the human aspect of refereeing.

The flag system in American Football is like this.
Each coach gets two flags, the coach can then use the flag to challenge a decision. If he is right he keeps the flag, if he is wrong he loses the flag. To a maximum of five challenges per coach.
Of course, on average, 3 challenges a game (both coaches adding up to 3).

It has some rather stupid drama to it, but since handegg is such a boring sport it needs that.
The coach proceeds to throw the flag into the field and looks at the camera and the ref all boss like, with the commentators going all like "Oh no he didn't".
It is a good system minus the drama. I think Football can use a hybrid of it and the tennis challenge system.
