Chiellini isn't great at LB but he's the best Juve have there, he's needed there lol.
He's better at CB but sometimes players need to make sacrifices for the team.

Tbh I'd give paolino another go. The first game against Parma he was impressive but that last tackle and the red didn't do him any favours. What's keeping him out is the form of bon bon.
Here's a stat. Bon bon was the most effective passer with 75/82 passes effective also had the most touches

I think all we need to do in the near future is get Hummels and Caceres and bring back Gio, Giandonato, and Pasquato. Chiellini should stay as a centerback. As a leftback Chiellinis great, but as a centerback, only Vidic is better in this world in my opinion.Wed be set for a very long time. Imagine:
--Buffon--
--Lichsteiner-- --Hummels-- --Chiellini-- --Caceres--
--Pirlo-- --Vidal-- --Marchisio--
--Pasquato-- --Matri-- --Giovinco--

Re: Giorgio[ne] Chiellini: Center Back or Left Back ?
why all the calls for mediocre santon and criscito i do not know when we should be aiming for higher. i seriously think some people go off names and have not had a chance to view them on a consistent basis...and i think alot of it is sentimental with criscito...he is not good enough for a juve that has to regain where we are accustomed to being...anyway...
chiellin defo should be moved back to centre if a real quality left back can be sought..if ur going italian then balzaretti...foreign there are tremoulinas, cissokho and ansaldi...no worthwhile realistic LBs in england altho baines is good...i know in brazil we are followin juan and bruno cortes and it was reported that patarici was impressed by juan and not bruno cortes so much..i only saw bruno in 3 or 4 games and he looks capable...
bonnucci is not a solution at the centre. we need chiello there with barzagli or a world class/decent CB...and the left back we must entrust to a LB specialist not a part-timer as chiello openly states he much prefers the centre role...we all know he is there at LB as a short term solution as de ceglie and grosso are not up to scratch..

I think he has a point. These guys have potential more than anything else. Not to say I wouldnt take either of them.

He is saying they are mediocre, not good enough, etc. Fab, you may hold that opinion, which is a valid one, but nowhere in his statement did he mention that. Besides, they are both very formidable and will be names for the future. Davide Santon is a speculative name just because he has not gotten a lot of playing time and has had injury, but Domenico Criscito has been solid.

when i say mediocre i do not mean it in a negative way...i generally speak relative to what is out there..so compared to other leftbacks we can get like those i singled out earlier...they are okay and have potential but i think where we can we should fill the available positions with higher quality...criscito is like what 25/26? hasnt really set the world alight imo...as i said cissokho is quality, ansaldi is very decent (and the added plus is he can fill in at RB when needed), balzaretti is a beast, and the brazilian fullbacks i mentioned earlier are recieving significant interest from some of the top clubs in europe...
WHEN we play in CL next year we will need that added jump in quality especially in the FB and CB because the quality of opposition we will face will be just insane...i trust lichtsteiner with the right but on the left is what worries me...no to criscito, no to santon (is he even getting games?)...we need bosses.

put criscito and santon against names like cissokho, tremoulinas, marcelo, contreao, ashley cole, impressive lb's like jordi alba, felipe luis, gonzalo castro are decent players as well...heck i even somehwat like leighton baines...anyway my point is that criscito and santon dont measure up.doesnt mean they arent capable players but the dont measure up..throw your minds back to when domenico played for us he was poor dammit...

CB however he needs to stay at LB until we sign a solid LB. Either way the fact that Chiellini can perform at either position is a good thing. Just adds to the depth.

Re: Giorgio[ne] Chiellini: Center Back or Left Back ?
I agree to a certain extent. Criscito may not be the best LB out there but he is much better then what we have atm. As for Santon he has potential but just needs to be given a chance. Everytime I hear his name I get flashbacks at how he manhandled Ronaldo. Inter messed up with this guy lol.juventrini wrote:put criscito and santon against names like cissokho, tremoulinas, marcelo, contreao, ashley cole, impressive lb's like jordi alba, felipe luis, gonzalo castro are decent players as well...heck i even somehwat like leighton baines...anyway my point is that criscito and santon dont measure up.doesnt mean they arent capable players but the dont measure up..throw your minds back to when domenico played for us he was poor dammit...

Re: Giorgio[ne] Chiellini: Center Back or Left Back ?
how the *bleep* can you sit there and say criscito isn't as good as coentrao, Marcelo, the current a.Cole, and others.
he's the starting LB of Italy and hes relatively young. He's amazing, I can't even think of a LB I'd want more than him besides Zanetti.

Criscito as good as Coentrao? Are you out of your mind or what? Coentrao destroys Criscito in pieces.

Re: Giorgio[ne] Chiellini: Center Back or Left Back ?
Why are people mentioning Criscito? Im sorry if this is a controversial comment, but he is/was just as good as Ariaudo: AVERAGE.
We need a left back that will play with intensity in defence and attack. Chiellini does this.
We need a left back that understands his primary role is to defend. Chiellini does this.
We need a left back that has the tenacity to get back from advanced positions to neutralize counterattacks. Chiellini does this
Grosso and PDC do NONE of the above. Sadly. I can hear Sciacca already saying the same old song and dance about Ziegler. I agree with him, in this situation Ziegler would be a perfect alternative to Giorgio.
What im saying is, if it aint broke, dont fix it... he is doing fine at left back. We are doing fine at center back as well. Both positions can use a bit of reinforcing. CB we could use either an experienced vet or an up and comer. FOr LB, we need a proven player, plain and simple.

Re: Giorgio[ne] Chiellini: Center Back or Left Back ?
seriously where is all this Criscito love coming from... Keep in mind, i am open to suggestions, and not opposed to admitting im wrong if and when he shows up for la nazionale as a big time player... but as it stands, I dont see him as a better LB than Chiellini.
Now, if he came in, u slide Giorgio over to the CB and bench Bon Bon... but like i said, if it aint broke, dont fix it... with that in mind, the answer IMO is getting a proven starter at the position, or a player that can accept a bench role.

Starting LB is all we need, we have 4 CBs if Chiellini doesnt play LB; isn't that enough?

exactly, thats why I personally WOULDNT do anything, besides get a backup LB.
the thing is, though, if we get a starting LB, and move Giorgio to CB, we need ANOTHER lb... im not content with having frick and frack as our LB options

I was thinking this for the LB role : New Starter, De Ceglie, and Grosso or Chiellini in an emergency. You think we need to buy 2 LBs this January?

Grosso and PDC...
If I were GM, yes, I would buy 2 LBs, if i were to move Giorgione out of that position.
