Agreed on the styles comment, probably why i have biggie edging it because i slightly prefer his style......

People compare for the same reason they compare Ronaldo and Messi....... even tho thier styles are completely different they are the best same goes for Biggie and Pac......

People just have a thing with comparing people that have different styles its the same across any sport/entertainment medium......

Same in boxing aswell.

Fact is Jay-Z provided 3 classics while Pac provided 2 ( obviously because of his untimely passing) if your going to use Material as a reason why Pac is greatest then its BS......

I don't care if Pac made 1 song in his life.I go by the feeling I get listening to it...Jay Z may be cool and stuff,but I don't really care about rappers who cry "envy me" from deep inside.

When I listen to Pac,I feel soul,hear truth and see history.Never listened to rap past 90 something,just a couple of songs which I heard spontaneously cause the bar was set too high and the direction rap took is nothing but a disappointment and an embarrasement.Pac is the truth,and he's the only one out there who can have this compliment.Untouchable.

Someone else said Tupac did more albums ( thats what i meant by material).......

Also if you read any of my posts in the hip hop thread you will know i listen to 80s and 90s hip hop ( and some early stuff in early 00s) and despise mainstream rap or Pop Rap......

I agree with you on all these comments....

Just i dont go agree with Pac being untouchable by all, especially when you consider how much quality there was in the 90s and the 80s......

People talk about Pac and Biggie but everything they did for Hip Hop is basically what Scarface did years earlier but on a smaller scale.....

Which is why i have always considered Scarface to be one of the influential and skilled mc's to bless a mic.....

The only reason i mentioned Jay-Z because of the classic Album argument he obviously isnt better than Pac but if your going to use amount of quality albums brought out and totally ignore the duds then Jay-Z is up there considering he came out with 3 or 4 classics but hes not for several reasons i wont go into......

Also another thing id mention and this is going to be extremely controversial.....

Everyone complains about mainstream hip hop, but no one seems to mention that it was Pac and Biggie who started Mainstream hip hop and got it out to the masses.....

No one ever used such techniques to gain album sales before them, look at Illmatic compared to All Eyez on Me and Life After Death......

The difference is stark.

As for the controversy,it made mainstream cause it was just too bloody good.Latter artist could not live up to that and had to change rap for the worse so they could have their room under the spotlight without the fact they are poor mans people mentioned in the op starring at people's eyes.

Rap would go completely underground if it didn't become disgustingly fancy.

Yh true, but sometimes i wish it remained completely underground tho as artists are better when they dont care about the money and simply about the love for the music........
