Yeah... this is my general impression too. Very meh and inconsistent. Has moments and then goes into fail mode. Much better this year from what i've seen. But not really that great.

Actually this year Montolivo has been far worse than he was in recent years because he clearly wants out of Fiorentina and plays with no heart.

He tried to leave in the summer but never got a move.

I saw him twice... must have caught 2 of his better games then lol. Last year, i saw 5 Fiorentina games and he sucked in 2 and was good in 3.

Yea thats his problem he is inconsistent and too soft. He is still capable of great things tho, he has great passing, vision and ball control, Ive just never been a fan.

Like most have said, inconsistent. I don't know if he's more inconsistent than Aquilani necessarily.... Capable on a good day. Maybe a change of scenery can make him improve though...

Aquilani is farrrrrrrrrrr better than Montolivo. Monty can be very inconsistent.

But stemming from the reports coming out lately, he could be available from 2m-5m, that's a good price for an Italy international (no matter how inconsistent he is)

Wow, I have never understood why people don't like Aquilani. When he played for Liverpool I thought he was quite good and to be honest I think they could use him right now.

His style isn't a perfect fit for the EPL and I think Aqua and Montolivo would both benefit playing in La Liga.

As for Montolivo, I think he's a very good player and usually when I watch Italy play he is one of the better performers in the squad.
