Re: Maxi Lopez
I'm undecided, though in our current state I'm leaning towards being against this. I want more time to assess how well we will deal with Cassano's absence in the league. When the January window comes around, I may well have changed my mind.
We could sign worse than Maxi Lopez, I'll say that, so it's not a horrific transfer, like Mancini. That was the most inexplicable coup we ever made.

Re: Maxi Lopez
against!
not that i doubt his talent, but we have robinho pato el sharrawy.
if milan wants to make signing, midfield is the position where they should strength, AM especially...
or if milan is looking for deputy for ibra, i think drogba is on the frame, atleast in paper, but i think we cant or wont get him/ maybe due to wage demands

Good point.
I am not doubting the talent of a player who has played for FC Barcelona (albeit it wasn't the most exciting stint).
I just feel that Milan, a club who is looking to return to a caliber of contesting for the CL, should be looking for the bigger names to assert our image as, unarguably, one of the worlds best

Re: Maxi Lopez
I put undecided in the poll, but JeepSwe makes a good point- if there is going to be an opportunity cost of us missing out on getting a midfielder or a better midfielder, then I don't want Maxi.

Re: Maxi Lopez
Maxi would be good, but if it's possible Drogba and even Quag should be better. However as most have said and been discussed in the past, AM will still be the priority, as there are still Robinho, Pato, El Sharawy, and Pippo up front. Even if Pato would be injured as he likely does and Pippo unavailable as well, El Sharawy should start to be trusted by getting some minutes as sub. Eh anyways signing one whether it's forward, AM, or DM/CM would be better than not signing any imo.

Re: Maxi Lopez
We could do a lot worse, like say Amauri but I think we need to focus on midfield at this point. If we are looking for strikers we should just give the playing time to El Shaarawy.

Re: Maxi Lopez
he just isn't what we need we need a back up to ibra and i would go with youth. We could do worse. But to be honest I want the money to be spent in our mid

Re: Maxi Lopez
He's more vice Zlatan, but no doubt he's a damm good player!
I wouldn't complain if he joined, as some pointed out our Brazilian glass legged pal might come back for Fiorentina then play about five games and by that time be injured for around Jan (Again) when a new player/striker will be needed?
And also around that time Zlatan will be on his usual "bored" of football phase as it happens every year, so why not? I think that's the reason why Galliani may bring him in?
A big strong guy, who's quick, good technique and eye for goal on the cheap, sounds like a Milan kind of guy?

Re: Maxi Lopez
Totally with it, loan deals in those situations are perfect, imagine Ibra getting a red card, we will be royally screwed. Lopez is a decent player and can offer us a lot.

Re: Maxi Lopez
Its sad that we are not fixing our biggest problems in the midfield area, only adding strikers. Im sure Superpippo would still score more goals than Maxi, a 27 year old who flopped for Mallorca or whatever.

Re: Maxi Lopez
I just don't see a point, we paid 10 million for SES so why not give him the playing time that Maxi would have received and be done with it. Focus on the midfield and getting an AMF

Re: Maxi Lopez
maxi lopez is among the most underrated players in serie A and propably europe!, he's quality, IMO just as good as cassano if not even better, he could be our very own diego milito, a great aquisition if these rumours are to be believed.....

yeah exactly,
just the half of the rights of EL sharawwy cost us 10 million! if galliani and his co, are so convinced el sharawwy has future at the club, he atleast needs to get couple of games to prove the point, and allegri got to give him some opportunity, for example, when we have comfortable lead, like in couple of games now, he should get some 15 - 20 mins.
this is one of the reason why any promising or established youngsters wont come to our club.
and i would like to point out, that ok maxi comes to us, does good commendable job for us, then cassano returns, what happens to him... he will be third choice, or fourth choice, poor el sharawwy will be forgotten, its painful to see some very good plaayer available to be snubbed by coach and sent away to watch game from the stand. i dont like this. and same faith awaits for maxi lopez too.
while why i wished milan went for AM??? because, currently the only player who occupies that position is Boateng, and there is no other player to challenge his position. and when he is not in form, or injured or whatever, that means we have to another player for that position or that AM doesnt exists whatsoever.
thats why i wished milan had gone for AM....

Re: Maxi Lopez
jjust checked goal.com bosman article, and some very interesting player available...
i caught eye on ivica olic, would have been soooo amazing if we got him. great instinct on goal, work rate is amazing, for a striker. fast, agile, strong... wished we got him, just like exact same 6 month deal as van bommel. would have been great if van bommel recommended him to galliani... :lol!:

Re: Maxi Lopez
I've never cared for Maxi and I personally don't rate him any higher than Amauri... Aside from that, I just think it would be dumb to have 7 strikers on the books. What's the point in having Pippo and SES there if we can't trust them as 4 and 5 string forwards?

Re: Maxi Lopez
you obviously havn't seen much of him in action, he's wasted at catania, such an amazing and quality striker with great physique, he can shoot with both feet, very strong in the air and works really hard..
i think he will be extremely important in those CL games when ibra fails to deliver..

Re: Maxi Lopez
I've seen a bit of him.. He does work hard and have a good physical presence. I'm just not to impressed with his stats.
Last year he scored 9 gls in 35 appearances.. against Cesena(1), Udinese(1), Brescia(3 in 2 games), Roma(1), Chievo(1), Genoa(1), and Bari(1)..
Where are his goals against "strong" opposition? I wouldn't want to rely on him in a CL game.
