This needs to be emphasised, I haven't heard anyone claim Villa was the best striker on earth since his move to Barcelona, whilst the forum was drowning in the calls beforehand.

For a guaranteed performance anytime of the year I'd say Eto'o and Villa are both above Ibrahimovic, though when they're playing well their effects are approximately equal, Ibra simply doesn't turn up on some days. They're different players so a straight comparison is unfair, however if forced to choose one I would pick Eto'o over Villa for his work rate and versatility. I'm not saying that Villa hasn't done well when rested and playing in his left forward slot, however Eto'o practically dragged Inter along playing there.

Firstly, most EPL fans would have said that Rooney is the best striker not Villa.
Secondly, have you seen the strikers last season? Honestly....who gave in good solid performances? Eto'o was a winger, Ibra was off, RVP was injured....Everyone was actually saying that Milito, not Villa, was the best striker in the world.

In fact, Rooney, Drogba and Milito were three players that were constantly mentioned as being the best around. Torres was in and out because of his injuries but mainly it was these three.
Then this season Villa is being played as a winger and his finishing has been absolutely appalling at times.

During the WC everyone was still talking greatly about him, but his second half of the season was pretty much similar to Ibra's.

Seriously guys, this whole "World vs Barca" crap has got to end at some point..

Villa and Pedro both went through a goal drought, however that's because Barcelona's rotation system was destroyed by injuries and the unfortunate fact that Bojan needs to play regularly for full matches to gain his form so he's not much of an impact or sub player. When he finally got some needed rest before the final we all saw how effective he was.

Not to mention, what on earth does one season of form have to do with anything? Milito was as you mentioned arguably the best out and out striker in the world last year and he got 7 goals this year.

We're discussing who was better in their prime after all.

The old forums have been deleted so I can't go back and show you specific threads, however there's been a definite shift. As you said there may have been a degree of bias towards Rooney, however he was also being crucified by many and Villa was the striker of choice for many Madristas. The world isn't against Barcelona, however certain parts of the forum definitely are.

Honestly? Am I missing something? I'd say Eto'o but I don't think it's that obvious. For me Eto'o is better at setting up goals than scoring them but he's fantastic at both.

Villa doesn't fit at Barcelona as much as he'd like but that doesn't degrade who he is in his prime.

As for Ibra he's a cl flop but he scores fantastic goals that Eto'o and Villa could never score.

Aren't you an Inter fan?? Eto'o has been fantastic at doing both forever and you think he can't score fantastic goals that only Ibra can do.




Ibrahimovic might excellent but I've always known Eto'o to be the better of the two. :study:
