My vote goes to Ronaldo because Im not that old to remember Maradona.

I was just a kid when the latter played and I could only see him in WC.

Yes, maybe one of the greatest but when Ronaldo played, it was LIVE and not some youtube or any other archive video.

Played for inter,Milan,Madrid and barca, that's already legendary.all time world cup top scorer.Won trophies in every club he has played for bar Milan(for obvious reasons). One of the most technical players ever and as HB said,he scored a boatload of goals.Actually,r9 was more successful than maradona at club and international level if I'm correct

@Ganso: yeah, but look at the clubs Diego Maradona played for. Difference was that Diego Maradona led his team to success, while R9 was another, albeit a very, very, very talented, member of an elite group of players. Easy to feed off others.

I didn't get to watch either.

I've actually watched more Maradona though, I bought some stuff to watch him. So naturally I'm going to pick Maradona. Plus he's just incredible...

R9 was amazing but not quite Maradona level, nor did he enjoy quite the longevity.

I'm pretty ignorant on the topic though, other than the stuff I bought and youtube + just hearing things, I don't know a whole lot about either Sad

Just like Henry and Cristiano. In his best ever season what did he win? How many cls did he win? none. He wentt to a star studded nReal team and won sod all. He never elevated his team to another leve, the way maradona did.

Again what did his butoads of goals do? Wow he won 1 WC. Gerd Muller scored in the finals of a WC, the EUROS adn 2 out of 3 CL finals so by your criteria is he better, seeing that his performance took his team to trophies. Ronaldos best year in 98, what did Brazil win? Don't ever compare them. Maradona is on a different level tbh. R9 doesn't even come close. Hell Zidane was better than R9. At least he raised his game for the big times. R9 is ovverated by people mesmerised by his abilities, masking the fcat that all his goals did nothing. 1 WC for such a talented guy is a failure, considering he was always playing for all the top teams, inter, ac, Madrid Barca, no excuse. Messi is doing everything he did but actually leading his team to glory.

Maradonna is a bit overhyped here. I watched him. He was great and everything... best dribbler i've ever seen. But Platini and Van Basten were actually better players.

R9 pre-injury would have become the best player ever imo. Too bad.

This is great and all but how is his trophy cabinet doing. No what ifs, FACT is he didn't do much with the talent he had. He might have performed brilliantly 'individually', (whatever that means ina team sport). The greatness of players is by how they elevate their teams, what did R( do again? In his best ever seasons Barca won sod all and Brazil failed tow in the WC ffs. Again, Messi is already doing what he is doing but he is elevating his teams performance. Hell Xavi has acomplished more than him, because he raises his teams game to a higher level and WINS IMPORTANT TROPHIES. You listing awards is just clucthing at straws. Again teh EUPHORIA of R9 masks his actual failure to perform and elevate his team. "if he didn't get injured"... well he did, so get over it. Judge him by WHAT he accomplished and not by WHAT HE COULD HAVE. Great player to have but he wasn't as effective as peope like to make out.

He was very likeable player, his style of running, his style of dribbling, his only fantastic season, his tooth. People were in love with him. He was better than Zidane for sure, maybe the best in last decade. But man this is maradona, he was r9+ronaldinho. he could do what both players did, dribbling like r9, passing and showing tricks like ronaldinho

lmao no player in the world at the time could have filled even half of R9's boots. R9 won trophies everywhere he went. As you said yourself it is a team sport so why are you blaming Ronaldo for not winning many trophies. He scored goals galore he did his part he raped defenders every game he could not have done more than he did. Those awards prove you are wrong and show what kind of player he was. it shows that even without winning the CL he was the best in the world and I will remember him as the greatest forward ever.

Napoli teammates were pretty average dude. I watched enough of those games to know. Serie A was supremely talented in those days, especially Juve.
