Too late.

On a serious note: Now that the report is out and it looks like there's little to no chance of an appeal working or a court case being do-able, would you dip into the market to cover for Suarez's probable absence?

You would add no depth in case Gerrard needed a rest?

Undoubtedly . . its very clear that the overall the team has progressed magnificently . . creating chances like anything! ! 2nd to CITY! ! :O . . . but just a slight lack of confidence or composure in the final third is effecting a lot. . .may seem a little unfair or lack luck but one has to be realistic & act on it . . being 4th holds a huge meaning at this moment for us all related to LFC . . so why not do that extra just to fill up the void

Suarez leaving just magnifies the problem & letting be won't solve it . . relying on Gerrard its the usual story . . but at this moment where we are fighting against teams far improved we must look for someone who would take the pressure off a little by finishing off . . .
However, i have to say that i have a strong feeling Gerrard would bring goals out of Carroll cause in the last game it was clear that Gerrard's passes are DECISIVE . . Adam, Downing, Hendo, Spearing, Bellamy, Enrique & Johnson everyone puts the ball in the box . . but only Gerrard makes it so simple for the strikers that they just guide it in & nothing extra. . DECISIVE

so my question would be why not add now when things are so close to ideal to what our ambitions can be these season???? . . .

We've got other guys, too, who can play there. Would be insanity, imo, to buy a player for an eight-game need. Which isn't even an eight-game need, really, because we've got Gerrarrrrrrrd.

I wouldn't purchase someone for Suarez ban, but 3 month loan would do well.

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
I doubt anyone would disagree that we could use/need a player with the ability to create beyond just Suarez & Gerrard... especially one who can play primarily on the right side of midfield. Suarez's potential absence merely makes such a player a more pressing need and one that needs addressing now, rather than something we could have waited until summer to take care of.Art Morte wrote:RedOranje wrote:You would add no depth in case Gerrard needed a rest?

Such a signing was always needed, IMO, it's simply one that's become more immediate with the Suarez case.

If we needed a player like that or any player on top of our current squad, we should have bought him in the summer or wait until the next one and buy him then.
I understand pretty much everyone here being keen on buying new players, but we spent quite a lot of dough in the summer. I wonder have we got money left? Either have our owners still got money and are they willing to spend more already or has the club itself got money, with one eye on the Financial Fair Play rules? So far I don't remember anyone thinking about this in this thread.

You seem to be implying that some, myself included, do not understand FFP or are ignoring it, despite our past conversations on the subject. I take umbrage to that.

Im sure everyone understands it, but yeah, it's not featured in transfer-related conversations amongst football fans as much as I think it should be. But FFP is not what I'm that concerned about here, as there are clubs who will face it much tougher than us.
What I'd like us all to think about more is that we spent a lot in the summer, our owners are not super-rich and Henry has said that the club will spend / aim at spending only what monies it generates. In this light the question "can we afford new players now in January?" hasn't been asked nowhere near enough; it hasn't been asked at all or then I've missed it.

Re: January Transfer Window 2012
I have a feeling you're overestimating the effect that FFP will have on spending. UEFA have already shown a lack of backbone in enforcing the regulations and set a precedent for allowing clubs to exploit loopholes. The owners have also stated that top 4 is our aim this season, and if those running the club believe spending in January is necessary for that, the owners will likely sanction it, given their track record with the other franchises they own.

We could loan Donovan from Galaxy for 2-3 months if he wasn't an Everton fan boy so badly

He's at his boyhood club now, though... he'll probably want to make sure he's not injured for the start of their season.
