Arsenal consider Toni bid
Luca Toni is on the Juventus sidelines and could make a January move to Arsenal, according to reports.
The 34-year-old hitman has struggled for playing time since joining from Genoa, particularly now that Coach Antonio Conte has taken over.
He is on the market for mid-season along with Amauri and Vincenzo Iaquinta.
According to the latest reports, Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Toni’s situation, considering him a valuable addition to their squad.
The 2006 World Cup winner already has overseas experience from his time at Bayern Munich.

Re: Arsenal consider Toni bid
Toni actually is technically very astute.
Yet his pace which makes Seedorf look like Pato is his downfall in where he can't display it.
Would be a decent signing imo as he is a big game player and plays well under pressure.
Plus his looks would sell jerseys (ladies) and attract the ladies to the stadio.
Last statement is hypothetical

Re: Arsenal consider Toni bid
He has incredible mental game, but is not what I'd call technically astute.
More mid games from Juventus to offload their overpayed strikers

Believe me he is technically adept.
But his pace is so slow he hardly has a chance to show it.
Good control of the ball, excellent touch, good passing, excellent aerially, ambidextrous, calm finishes,
Only problem is he doesn't read the offside trap well and once again..... makes mertesacker look like walcott

Re: Arsenal consider Toni bid
Well, yes. In those areas he's good. But I meant as in dribbling and big workrate. Stuff an Arsenal striker should have.
He'd just be a more experienced Chamakh. Toni's past it, sadly.
Awesome player in his prime.

Awesome player in his prime.
Used to dribble well when he had pace.
He works hard so that shouldn't be worried about.
Sorry man, I feel he is better then Chamakh in most areas except heading as he reads the game far better and doesn't crumble under pressure. Also, the other areas mentioned as well.
Truth is Arsenal needs one who has instinct and can hold the ball like a tower.
In the end, if it wasn't for his drastic drop in pace which seems like a comet is strapped to his ankle, then he would have been an excellent signing.
Still has much to offer imo.
Doubt the deal will happen though

Re: Arsenal consider Toni bid
If you gave me Toni in his Fiorentina or Bayern days I'd take him without question.
But right now, there's no way he'd handle the PL with that pace.
Not happening since the deal is dead due to his wages and age. Simone Pepe would be world class in the PL, though

Oh goodness forgive me as I forgot you're also a bayern supporter as I always imagine the gooner side of
you. Thus, I shouldn't be dictating Toni
I've always wanted to know the general bayern fans past and current view, and opinion on him.
What do you know from this?

Re: Arsenal consider Toni bid
Well, we loved him. He was partnering Klose back then and Ribéry was in his hot form. Won us a double and was banging in goals for fun. Dragged us past most UEFA cup rivals (that Getafe match, goddamn) and had a 39 goal season.Arquitecto wrote:Sushi Master wrote:If you gave me Toni in his Fiorentina or Bayern days I'd take him without question.

Klinsmann obviously didn't work out and our team not performing was put down to him, and even though Toni was injured he still brought goals when needed. Then came van Gaal. You know how van Gaal is, and for some reason Toni was instantly in his shitlist. Probably due to not being flashy enough and too slow for his possession obsession football. It was not due to bad performances that he left, van Gaal just didn't want him on his team, he had insane wages and was forced out.
I personally think he's a great player and I miss huge targetmen like him. I hold no grudges and the only reason Gomez was brought in was because of him leaving.

If ever I wanted to summarize Toni, I would show that video.
Big, strong, great at finishing, and a celebratory genius.
Only thing the video is missing is the classic celebration that has been trademarked, and a well-placed header.
Nonetheless, teams could benefit with Toni. He can come on and change a game in the 80'.
