Marcelo has already been tried to play as attacking midfielder last season, hasn't he? And he's not as impressive as he was at LB there. Coentrao is more suitable to play as attacking midfielder rather than Marcelo imo.

Yes for midfield, but imo he's more than average as winger, and could be very good if given enough time to play there.

Coentrao is still a good player.

For 30 million he should be a great player not just good.

Is it his fault? We bought a FB that we are playing everywhere but at FB. Mou made a poor recruiting, or he has a bigger and more elaborate plan with that signing.

i dont think he expected a immediete impact, give him some time to get used to the midfielder role, can take a while though

It's not Coentrao's fault he's a donkey, it's his super agent Mendes I blame.

So far Fabio's transfer has been a useless one. He isn't better than Marcelo (I could have told you that before we signed him) and he isn't better than any of our CM's (LOL at him partnering Xabi). He's half the player Khedira is as a CM.

He's not better than any of our wingers and he isn't better than Arbeloa IMO.

Fail transfer so far and unless he proves he is more than someone who can run a lot but can't do much else he won't get a sniff of the starting 11. At least Di Maria scores a golazo every once in a while

Coentrao needs a shot at LB (his natural position). If Marcelo can get it after continuously being dreadful in the past, I don't think it'd be too much an ask for Coentrao to get his.

Coentrao is needed alot more than you realise

When Marcelo needs to be rested or can't play for any reason Coentrao will play a huge part in keeping that drive from the left going and helping our overall dynamic.

There were no players available who could provide the same role for any cheaper.

It's a contingency plan we needed to have, the fact he can be so versatile is just an added bonus

Marcelo as RM and Controa as LB will solve everything.

Problem is that we are being luxurious here..

You just wont go and get probably second best technical LB in the world as a back up.
