Re: The Elder Scrolls
I wanna know what Mole has to say on this.
He recommended Red Dead Redemption and now it's my favourite game of all time next to the MGS series.
I never played RPGs so I'm still in doubt whether to buy this one or not. I love the open world and graphics from the videos I've seen but I'm not a fan of fantasy creatures and races at all. I don't go whoa its a dragon! in the middle of playing a video game.
What I loved RDR about so much was the open world gameplay, the side quests and challenges like finding herbs and hunting animals. But most of all, it was realistic. The story was epic too.

If anything, Fallout (3 and NV) are a rich mans Oblivion Not to forget that the TES franchise dates from the early 90's and Fallout (but under a different developer) the late 90's.
Morrowind still the best of the series, but then again Oblivion and Skyrim are console limited so that's understandable. Skyrim is a huge improvement over Oblivion though and that's what matters most.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
I bought Morrowind a few months before I first got Oblivion years ago, and got pretty close to finishing it, but it had a few bugs which really annoyed me. First of all, I didn't know how the hell to use the fast travel spells until halfway through the game, there are no horses, and you can't climb over hills or mountains that separate two paths so if you walked down a dead end path you had to turn all the way back (hello 20 hours of pointless running around).Phritz wrote:EarlyPrototype wrote:I got the game and played a few hours. Then one time I found a dead guard in the middle of nowhere in the wilderness, so I picked his armour up and sold it at a shop. Unfortunately, I tried on the mask for 1 second, and the glitch in that game is that if you ever put their armour on they will try to kill you every time they see you for the rest of the game, so I basically had to sneak into the main cities every quest just so I could get the missions.
When I finally got a 360 I bought Oblivion right away, and the lack of bullshit glitches made me fall in love. I tried to finish Morrowind this last summer, but I can't tell what the hell I am supposed to do because the quests aren't documented in the game! You are just supposed to know where to go and what to do
In fairness to Morrowind though, I loved how you could die at any second by picking a fight with the wrong guy, and the landscape and stuff you could do just seemed endless. You could spend hours helping out some random person who wasn't even important. It was much more realistic than Oblivion where you're basically a super hero.

There is a Journal - only it didn't have any way of sorting things until Bloodmoon >.>
Also I recommend that you patch it with the official patches as well as http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:UMP
I don't want to offend you, but getting Oblivion and even Skyrim for X360 is a waste of money.

Re: The Elder Scrolls
Hmm I think the problem was that it just told me to go talk to "insert name here" without reminding me where the hell the person was. I could be wrong though, I just remember that I tried for about an hour and didn't accomplish anything.Phritz wrote:Eman wrote:

And my computer is slow as hell so I don't play games on it, bar strategy games. Until I get a new one, there's no way I would play a game like Elder Scrolls on it.

Standard Ultra settings with 4xAA/16xAF (90fps - inb4 screens are 60Hz - I have a 3D 120Hz screen)
Settings with tweaked .ini file and SSAO enabled (nVidia only) i.e. "Extreme" settings (50-70fps)
What is this I don't even

Re: The Elder Scrolls
whats with all the console-bashing for TES ? I'm a newcomer to the series..just started playing Oblivion a few weeks back on the ps3..and it's goddamn awesome.
I realise Mods can definitely up the ante when it comes to entertainment, but I'm confident Bethseda are more than capable in making an enthralling experience on their own. I have no hate towards PC gamers, as I started out as one..but this game can definitely be enjoyed across all formats..regardless of how many buttons you have. How much of an advantage can you have ?
For me..an example of Mods completely revolutionizing a gaming experiences..is with PES. It's absolutely necessary, and I can't even imagine playing the game without it. Thankfully, there's an active Modding community for console owners as well. But I envy all the pc additions
On topic : Skyrim looks orgasmic. Thankfully for my chequings account, Oblivion should keep me occupied for a good while. That game made me ditch Arkham City btw. And I've been reading Batman ever since I was 10. Guess it's not about the game, but the experience.

Thanks a lot, Phritz
I have a dual core and a 260 instead of a 275, but at least I know it will still look sexy
I can handle anything above 30 fps, really.
Currently at 60% :mental:

having keyboard binds for weapons, spells and potions is A LOT better than having to open up a "favorites" menu everytime you want to do something... also the character perk screen when you level up is unbearable, looks like they put literally no effort into the console port

Insane game.
We should post what are characters are/how we play our dudes.
My first guy so far is a Wood Elf that specializes in Marksman, Dual Wielding, Alteration, Illusion, Alchemy, and Sneak. The slowing Time feature on marksman is so epic

Seriously, start off from Morrowind and prepare to be amazed. I didn't like RPGs 'till I played Morrowind.
