Re: Bayern against Napoli
I think the decider was the weekend games - Bayern is basically fully rested - They ran Hertha ragged while somehow covering a lot less distance themselves (forgot link to match staistics but I remember seeing istinct difference in distance run by both sides) whereas Napoli struggled.
Bayern are the most confident team on the planet right now, and you need ego/confidence to get far in competetitions (without getting complacent) - hence I think we'll win. Bayerns width is going to be a real problem for Napoli - How does Napoli deal with teams like Bayern and ManUre?

Re: Bayern against Napoli
Agreed, Phritz. Napoli play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. They strength is down the middle, while their only width is Maggio and Dossena/Zuñiga. So 1 wingback has to cover the whole wing. That's going to be great for Lahbéry. Mueller can also do major damage.
Van Buyten is played because frankly, he hasn't been playing bad and has been solid. He has loads of experience as well. Rafinha doesn't start because he's more offensively minded than Boateng, and we all know in Europe it's all about defense.
Although Boateng started against City, so you never know when Heynckes might mix things up. Rafinha is more than good enough for anything Napoli have and IMO, Boateng needs to start badly because he's our only CB with pace to counter Cavani and Lavezzi, both bloody fast players. With Gustavo in the middle to neutralize Hamsik, we're good and should have a great game. Of course being VERY careful on those counter attacks.
A clean sheet is mandatory for the upcoming Neuer record

We're not exploiting the wings... The entire game (for both sides) has been exclusively down the Bayern left. Müller and Boateng aren't doing enough to stretch the play and Gomez isn't making any runs :S

No Rafinha, no width because Mueller is more of a central player.Phritz wrote:We're not exploiting the wings... The entire game (for both sides) has been exclusively down the Bayern left. Müller and Boateng aren't doing enough to stretch the play and Gomez isn't making any runs :S
I shit my pants every time van Buyten touched the ball. We seriously need Boateng there.

I think you're giving Van Buyten too much flak; he's had some decent games and although the scare factor is there, I don't have the same panic anymore if he's put under pressure

Re: Bayern against Napoli
He's been solid I have to admit. Cavani didn't do shit. But there were some awkward moments with rebounds to anywhere which Cavani could have latched and maybe changed the result.Phritz wrote:Sushi Master wrote:No Rafinha, no width because Mueller is more of a central player.Phritz wrote:We're not exploiting the wings... In any case, if one of our CBs is injured we have ZERO CB backup with Breno still in jail. Thank ze gods Tymo and Gustavo can play there.

AFAIK Breno isn't in jail anymore. He was bailed out by Bayern. Last I heard, he was supposed to train with them again.
