gerrard is/was 5 times the player scholes was at their primes and this comes from somebody who thinks scholes has been one of the 5 best midfielders for the last 15 years!

There is a reason why all the great MF consider scholes the best and Gerrard, not so much. Go figure. the only similarities between them is that they are english, no comparison.

The pathetic thing was that refs were taking the view aall through his career. 'Oh its Scholes I'll let him do two more leg breaking tackles otherwise he'll be off after 30 mins and Fergie girl will cry'.

Its nonsense comparing him with proper footballers like Gerrard or Ballack in the first place.

at their prime, stevie G, he and a few others carried 'pool (and rafa benitz) for a long time
although on their carear as a whole id take scholes, hes much less injury prone and has much greater longetivity
