Big ups for Morata/Castilla

Post by Mr Nick09 on Sat Aug 13, 2011 10:14 pm

In today's press conference, some very nice words from mourinho

If everything goes well, I hope you will continue as it is until the end of the season. Last year we went to the winter market because we had the serious injury of Higuain, which left him out a long time, and we could not spend six months with only one striker. This year I think we've done a good job this summer. The squad is small, but we have some guys in the Castilla who have more maturity now than the year before. Therefore we hope to be lucky not to have serious injuries so that we can carry on this way until the end of the season.

It means, he was trolling when he asked for a 3rd CF, or at least he was challenging whoever was feeling concerned by such position. Benzema had a great summer, and Morata as well.

Still feel like we are a bit short in the middle quality wise, but we will see how it goes.

i feel that atm we are gearing up our castilla so that by the end of this current generation we will have atleast 4-5 castilla players in our team. 15 years from now.

welcome to the first team morata?

Its good to see Mou has somewhat of a faith to Castilla. Morata as a 3rd striker ftw!

mou is doing the right thing with our youth and castilla atm.

any of those who still fear that the castilla is might as well dead with mou around should go for a walk and get some brains while at it.

all we need now is a great season from rm in which the first team wins top spanish and european honors and the castilla goes to segunda division.

Jose has already showed more interest in the factory than any of our previous coaches for a while.

Hope it bears fruit.

I definitely see him using the castilla more this season, especially in the CDR games. I hope he'll call Morata and Alex more often to train with the first team.

Wow, so after all that, Morata will be the 3rd striker after all. Probably the best option, he can help Castilla and get lots of playing time, but also train with the first team and play occasionally.

I'm very happy about this. Makes up for my huge disappointment that we let Sarabia go instead of selling Kaka.

Bumping this thread after Morata has been called up for the 2nd leg of the Super Copa against Barcelona.

I think this means that this is one step closer into bringing Morata for the 3rd striker position. I think he will be promoted in the winter if we face any striker injuries or next summer depending on the situation.

I think he is already, but unofficially.

He is unlikely to get promoted anytime soon, since it means he cant play with castilla. He will train with the first team, and play where he is needed on weekends, Castilla or first team.

I think they will keep it that way even if they move up to segunda, but if they dont, depending on the situation of our strikers, he might go out on a loan.

Last time we did this (had players with Castilla also included with first team) was De La Red and Javi Garcia. The next year De La Red was lent out for one year and Javi made the club(!!). I'm not 100% sure if Javi made it that year or if he stay with Castilla another year. End result was De La Red had a break out year at Getafe and made club the next year. Javi also made it but was ineffective and eventually sold to Benfica. De La Red would be a starter on today's team if he hadn't run into his heart problems.

Sorry I ran on a bit and forgot that for goal we did have Adan in the same eituation as Mejias is today. I think Adan was in that position for 2 years, however the difference with Mejias is he is not considered best youth goalie in system nor is he on any seleccion team. Adan was always a starter on youth seleccion teams and was considered best goalie in system.

The good news is that Madrid and Mou are suddenly valuing the youth system and there are possibilities for youth to make 1st team.

And then he would lift his shirt over his head and it will read

"Yo soy el tercero"
