Thanks for mentioning this. I thought about doing it... but i didn't want to be thought of as a Spain-hater (which i'm not).

Canales was amazing. I recorded it and saw the bit after he came on. Its true that he can play very high, but like I said he likes coming deep too. Quick, sell Kaka, its not too late!

He was in shortly before the red card. However it was his play / vision that made the difference. yes being a man up helped, but he did what we expect a good MF to do, He took control, had excellent vision, amde several excellent passes and made several good shots. His positioning was perfect. But most important, he lifted the play of his teammates.

red cards make a lot of players look good if you ask me

i think there was another guy who was simply class throughout the match. He made incredible passes,i think it was Isco or some other player.

Another point noting was the play of Pacheco in goal. He was good, much better than Aitor in 1st game.

We have had Pacheco up with the 1st team more often than either Mejias and Jesus. The latter two are with Castilla, while Pacheco is the starter on Castilla C. Part of it must be his younger age, but I wonder if he might be the better of the 3.

Do any of you Castiila followers have an opinion?

Isco is not bad. He was playing on wing, not MF. He is now with Malaga (from Valencia). There also was Rodrigo, a striker who played well. You may have been referring to Oriol, he was playing a deep MF. He was one I found that had difficulty fielding ball and his passes were not on the mark several times. Canales came in for Pacheco (the mF not the goalkeeper from Castilla) who is supposed to be the other established star on this team besides Canales. And that's were the difference with Canales stood out.

I was only able to see the 1st half of Spanish U20 game last night, but I was impressed. It's uncanny how much they have improved since 1st game and it is the organization, passes, leadership of Canlales that is making the diiference. The weakness I saw in the 1st game and 1st half of second game of not being able to field the ball nor make good passes has all but disappeared. And our Pacheco in goal had another good game.

I back to liking our chances to bag yet another youth trophy. Looks like we will have to get by Brasil, then Argentina to get to final. From what I've seen, it should be against Nigeria or Columbia.

France has it relatively easiest to the semis... Ecuador followed by England. Probably see Argentina or Portugal there.

They don't really play defense and France has only showed 60%... Not really that worried if we get ourselves going.

I didn't like the play of the Spanish nor the French last night. It seems to me that this is going to be a South American affair with Nigeria. I'm still hopeful the Spanish can play better, but I'm not optimistic.

Well shit. I was wrong on all of the games on the weekend with the exception of the one that really matter to me! I thought Spain was the better team, ran out of steam due to playing in the rain and on the wet field. Once you go to penalties, it's anyones game.

So Sportsczy, maybe you were right after all!!!

With these tournaments, it's all about luck and building momentum. You want to play better every game. I've noticed that the most impressive teams in pool play (WC, Euro , etc.) wind up running out of steam... as with all french teams, if they can avoid a pool play disaster, they will always be tough in elimination rounds just because of their tactics and physicality.

For Spain, the forwards were just too wasteful. Impressive all around and played a great first half especially. But other than Canales, nobody had the skill to make use of the possession.

I reluctantly agree. It was awful seeing them being too slow for the extra time and the last 20 minutes of 90 minutes. The rain and pitch seems to tire them out, both teams actually. Anyways ce la vie. Good luck to you for the rest of tournament.

we might not have the most talented players, but the players play with everything they got, and so far that has been efective ye we had our luck but we deserve to be in the final, no goals conceeded thus far, its a repet of 1991 lets hope the reuslt is the same

Bad night last night for me lol! France had spend most of the tournament making mistakes on D and being inefficient on offense... very strange honestly. I thought they were past it. They were just making it through on their superior talent. Caught up with them last night.

Congrats to Portugal.
