Chelsea could have put the ball out when Abraham was injured and that probably would have killed the game. As it was, Arsenal managed to put together one last attack together and nick a point.

To be honest, I expected Chelsea to be ruthless once Arsenal went down to 10, but there was something about this version that seemed soft. Maybe it was just the young players they had, but they seemed to lose focus at 1-0.

As for Arsenal, I think Arteta will be happy despite how important a win was, because they didn't cave in after the red card and played like a team. Even the legendarily error-prone players like Mustafi and Xhaka formed a good partnership in defence against all the odds. They had two 18 year olds on their left flank, too; one out of position, but really acquitted himself well as the game went on, and the other a genuine difference maker. Martinelli made 26 sprints throughout the whole game, which is absurd for a player of his age playing in the PL.

Arteta really needs Ozil and Pepe on form, though. The team is desperately lacking creativity without them.

Long-term, sure. But as of this moment, he needs something out of him because the alternatives are inadequate.

even short-term im not so sure mate Laughing Only a few games under the Arteta regime and he already seems to be fatigued after the that initial running and kilometres covered in the first 1 to 3 games Laughing

Plus even if he covers a lot of ground and puts in more effort than usual it is pointless if he doesn't get the ball in the pockets where he needs it to be most effective, and the front 3 are not regularly in position to make the forward runs needed. At the moment it seems Pepe has to come short a lot of the time to get the ball and try and beat a player or two to get the team some forward momentum, or Xhaka/Mustafi/D.Luiz tries the diagonal to Martinelli and see if it works out. While the midfield does nothing but try their best to contain the opposition.
Like i've been saying all season, our midfield has no cohesiveness and balance.

Paul Pogba's agent Mino Raiola says Manchester United have failed to match the French midfielder's ambition since he re-joined the club in 2016.

United broke the world transfer record to re-sign Pogba from Juventus in an £89m deal but the 26-year-old has grown frustrated at Old Trafford and expressed a desire for a "new challenge" last summer.

Raiola said in August he was "in the process" of finding a new club for his client but was unable to push through a move.

if clubs all agreed not to ever deal with raiola ever again we could see the back of this fool.

Stop blaming Ole for your "strikers" not finishing off their chances.

Although whoever's decision it was to spend all that money on Maguire should be sacked.

'4 clean sheets in 35 league games'

and we can't break teams down when we fall behind because we spent all of our transfer budget on defense over the summer and neglected more pressing areas

LMAO

the club is rotten throughout, just complete incompetent numpties. I would turn this club around in 2 windows. Instead Ed fucking Woodward and Ole Gunnar Numpskaer are gonna usher in the darkest days for this club in 100 years

I think we both agreed that Maguire is solid at best while he was still at Leicester, though. No surprises there.

the hilarious thing is that by now I'm pretty sure Woodward wants to sack Ole and install Pochettino in summer, as is a good idea, but the class of 52 or whenever it's called, have relentlessly set the agenda that somehow Ole is leading some kind of United DNA transformation and needs to be given loads of time, and Woodward can't actually afford to sack Ole, in terms of political capital.

I cant' shake the feeling also that the same cabal, with Ferguson in the background, persuaded Woodward to install Ole in the first place and likely also convinced him to scrap the DoF plans in favour of having the MANAGER have the power the way it's meant to be.

In reality, it's probably Sir Alex himself ruining the club in his own post-retirement

I hope Burnley goes on to win this game so that ManUtd learn a bit about playing to the club's stature in big games instead of taking help of VAR and referees to frustrate big teams and playing shit defensive football.
