true, i expressed this on Twitter as well

personal, violent insults - a no go, for sure.

But anything related to expressing your criticism for on field performances - i'll stand by those loud fans.

He isn't the worst player in the team. He is not even one of the worst. Singling him out is nothing but agenda. Fans have players they worship and will never say a bad word about him. See bellerin. However the same fans have unwarranted hatred against players like Xhaka which does nothing for the players nor the atmosphere. Imagine giving your all and going home to see people wishing death on your newborn. What will that do to a player's mental health?

It's not just Xhaka. Today it's him. He won't last here for long after this incident for his own good. It will be someone else next. Then someone else.

There is nothing wrong with being critical of underperforming players. But there is a time and place for it.

where is the time and place for it besides booing on the pitch when someone gets subbed?

That's your judgment score from the fans, you gotta step up or get out if you can't live up to that and improve.

Not even surprised, said last week Arsenal fans are the worst in the league, it's not their fault, they still have the hope that kills them.

It will continue until they accept their true position and I understand it will take time, even we at Liverpool finished 8th but we still said Charlie Adam with his left foot is amazing, its a normal process of denial something Arsenal fans haven't even experienced but they are already toxic as fuck.

Xhaka poor guy, had no business being at the end of all this but he's been caught.

Before the Arsenal fans jump on me, I know if Emery starts Auba Laca Pepa Ozil up front, y'all will automatically expect a 5-0 win, this is the problem with the ones I've met online, can't speak for GL.

It also reminds when I said Wenger has to stay, the team had so many problems that he was only one who could keep them afloat, Sure they aren't bad in the league etc but this negativity outside the games is so damaging both externally and internally.

It maybe does, its a culmination of things I've mentioned where Xhaka has become unfortunately the target at the moment, if it doesn't then that's fair, I don't understand the situation.

Remove the fanbase concept from it entirely and call it for it is: shitty, insane people being empowered by their anonymity on social media to abuse others. I don't condone booing your own players, but I reckon a good percentage of the ones doing that to Xhaka had nothing to say about his personal life or his family, and everything to say about his performances, demeanour and the general frustration with the team. I don't expect Xhaka to separate the two in the heat of the moment. By his own admission, he's acted that way because of the treatment he's received on social media, and the jeering on the night compounded the problem.

For the Arsenal fans specifically, there is a problem with scapegoating. You can go back nearly ten years and look at Eboue, boo'd off the pitch for playing poorly after being subbed on. The whole team collapsed during that season but he was the easiest target. Ramsey was booed when he struggled for form post-injury. Then until recently it was Mustafi. Well, he's been removed from the starting line-up, so the fans have moved on to the next best thing, which is Xhaka. And once Xhaka gets dropped, they'll move on to another player. Fans can be critical and express that during the game, but when it becomes this focused on a single player, I feel like it defeats the purpose. Then it becomes a case of fans vs a single player and not fans vs the team, which is what the heart of the problem is. Xhaka could play badly in a winning team and still not be booed or abused online.

I don't believe this is strictly a case of Arsenal fans unreasonable expectations, either. Given the money that has spent and the size of the club, standards are rightfully high, and even then, the most anyone expects at the moment is a return to the Champions League. They're fed up of seeing the same problems and are expressing that now that the grace period for the new manager has expired. They've seen what Emery and his team are about and don't like it. This isn't a case of Wenger being the only one keeping the team afloat, either, because these problems existed under him too. The issue here is Emery hasn't been able to fix the problems he inherited.

The fans should be rallying around the team as much as they can to lift them up, but at the same time, the team has to be showing they're doing everything it can to win and for the last three or so years, that hasn't been the case.

Bournemouth - Man United is on

Utd looking sharp, as they have in recent games

of course, the state of the pitch and the weather benefits their brand of football
