I didn't agree with it when Sterling's goal was ruled out either.

I don't believe it's within the spirit of the game to rule out a goal that's that close. And I think they ought to provide more clarity on the process. Am I supposed to trust that this technology is so good that they really can make a decision to rule out a goal for being mm offside? Is the technology that accurate?

It might be, but I don't know

Then you haved to talk about the offside rule if you want, but VAR worked perfectly there and according to the rules. There was no robbery.

I never said there was. The worst thing I've said is Spurs are unlucky and it feels stupid to enforce offside on such thin margins.

Also the Kane goal, man I have so much respect to his ability. Reminds of that diving header goal that he scored (Don't remember against which team), one of the best headers I have seen till date and its shame no one talks about.

Yeah, instances like this feel very frustrating. There should be a margin of error of, say, 15 centimeters, built into VAR offside decisions

Which brings back the debate that City doesn't have any legendary/Generational player that 'even if the match is not competitive you still want to keep watching just to watch this guy play'

This a joke or for real? 15cm is huge

Either way, the issue is that you can move a frame or two here, draw a line imperceptibly different there and all of a sudden Son is onside. Or you can do the same thing and he's off.

There needs to be a thorough calculation of a reasonable margin of error for offside decisions, and that ought to be applied to VAR.

This is all science & math. We can calculate this. This shouldn't be an issue.

It's not a joke.
Let's say 10cm then.
If you're offside 1 cm (as determined by technology), it won't be sactioned. If you're off 11 cm, you're too far off.

That would install a bit of leniency in the optics of this, and would honour the spirit of "in doubt for the attacker".
Because frankly I don't think the system is able to exactly determine a 1 cm difference, technically.

Pre VAR era we would look at the replay once think they are level, goal is given and everyone moves on

i think this just the case that in few years var will be normalized and even this millimeter close call will be accepted

Just not used to this yet
