Malcolm sold. He was never going to make it here since Valverde hated his signing. Valverde wanted Willian and the club got him Malcolm. As a signal to the board, Valverde froze even though Malcolm played well whenever he got a chance.
At the least, Malcolm could have been a good squad option but never under Valverde. So sale makes sense. Decent money but should have been higher.

Firpo almost confirmed. Decent buy but he is a LWB and not a LB. Has Valverde's blessing so that's a plus.

Down a winger with Malcolm's departure. Are you going to sign a replacement for him? Preferably a Brazilian too...

Nah I doubt they're signing any wingers. Probably promote someone from B team - Carles Perez or Abel Ruiz. Maybe La Masia will be revived a little seeing how they already promoted Wague to be Semedo's back-up.

Perez could be our new Pedro with a little faith in the man.

from a squad rotation perspective we are not though as he rarely got playing time

Down a winger but we play a narrow 4-4-2 with the FB's providing width. So, from a depth perspective we are good. There is still the possibility of Neymar as rumors refuse to die. If we sell Coutinho, then Neymar becomes a real possibility.

Well, if he was the target, why did we move for Griezman? That money could have been used for Neymar. It all makes no sense.
120 for a 28 year old Griezman, 180 for a 28 year old injury prone Brazilian. Great long term planning.

I don't think you overpaid for Griezmann, he is a far better player than Coutinho, but much like the Brazilian he is not compatible in a 4-3-3.

We dont play a 4-3-3. We play a 4-4-2. And neither Griezman nor Neymar have a place in a 4-4-2 with Messi.
Messi plays one of the two which means the other player has to play ahead of him. Only Suarez can do that. The only other option for either player is playing on the wing in the 4-4-2. Cant play on the right since Messi drifts there and the player playing RM is expected to carry Messi's water. This leaves the LM spot. Paying 120m to play Griezman there is an utter waste. Paying 180 to play a 28 year old Neymar is also an utter waste.

Only way this would make sense is by getting rid of Messi. A Messi Neymar swap would be ideal. We finally get rid of Messi and Neymar can slot in on the left of a 4-3-3.

Get rid of Suárez instead imho, he's been shit for a year now.

Coutinho goes to Bayern on loan which means Neymar deal is all but dead. Good that he left. He would have been wasted here. Maybe leaves us a little short on offense but Perez can make up numbers.
The Neymar deal is off which is all that matters. There are serious concerns that he reinjured his metatarsal and that it is chronic. Paying 200 for him now is suicide.

Looks like Madrid are really pushing for Neymar. I wonder if this is just to piss Barcelona off or they actually want Neymar after having spent gazillions this summer
