How can you not get tired of playing Baldur's Gate for the 100th time?

Did you play Witcher 3 by the way? I think it's a modern game that does the old things pretty well.

Mostly now doing challenges, there's so many classes to play differently. And I could even stop that and do it for almost endless story&character runs. Game play wise it's superior RTwP-rpg to any modern counterpart.

I've played Witcher 3 three times I think, great story and characters, awful gameplay. I've written about it already in here, but how enemies scale is even more broken than in vanilla Oblivion. Because damage isn't calculated from statistical point of view, but almost solely on level per level comparison. There's no reason to invest in any perk, because by waiting high enough level you will stomp the same enemy. See skull, don't bother because it counts so complicated function as level/level, perk tree is almost rendered useless. There's no stealth nor crime mechanics, you could steal hundred rakes and nobody bats an eye. Paper npc's with static contrainers etc.

I understand which school of gamers you come from, but I personally don't believe realism necessarily equates to fun. There are a lot of dated and annoying mechanisms in those games which I find cumbersome for someone who doesn't have a lot of playing time anymore. Sure, if I was 9 again and I had all the time in the world I may have appreciated these again, but my time is limited and I wanna enjoy it when I'm playing video games.

Been playing the new Fire Emblem recently.

I really like it, the whole tactical field where positioning where really seems to matter compared to how Persona was took some getting used to but it adds a certain level of depth which will be fun to get to used to.

Also i'm not that far in but story seems to be basically Japanese Harry Potter Laughing

So yeah it's good.

@danyjr Yes they've, but most games nowadays aren't improved versions of old, other than graphics wise. And graphics don't really make a game, it's there to improve immersion. Modern games are mostly streamlined to be a button smashers, true time wasters, rather than games of skill. They are made for kids who rage quit after the first defeat. Being streamlined they've lost a lot of mechanics, or the different ways you could complete a game. As a example you can't do stealth playthrough in W3, your only option pretty much is to roll, roll, roll on the ground. TES series is the best example of this, how mechanics have been stripped out and streamlined throughout. KCD is one example of modern game, that isn't made for rage quit kids, and has a lot of mechanics to make it complicated. It has pretty good story, not on the level of W3, but has even better guests and superior gameplay. It's a better "game". What does the rage quit kid generation say? Nah... But now that they were bought out, lets see how much they streamline it for the sequel, to make more money...

It was on sale for 30 on Switch digital store a while back but that's the cheapest I've seen it.

Nintendo games don't tend to go on sale anywhere near as much as Sony's do.

They're very Disney like in that sense.

Currently playing Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire

Been on a story rich centric CRPG grind ever since Divinity 2, i legit sunk a couple hundred hours on Divinity 1 and 2.

Pillars of Eternity 2 has such fucking amazing writing and world building, completely engrossed, with the new turn based mode, the game is even better.

Absolutely hated the combat in Pillars 1, so I quit playing after 5 or 6 hours, which is a shame because the world and story seemed fantastic. But yeah, heard they revamped it for Pillars 2.

Deadfire really is a much better experience the POE1

2 is like ME2 in so many ways, combat revamp, returning characters, sideplots, decisions, etc

It really is fantastic

Better isolated story but Blood and Wine is better overall package.

But it's not fair to compare them, they both aim for completely different things.

Hearts of Stone is wonderful told story with a stellar character in Olgierd and just a very satisfying tale and terrific aura but Blood & Wine is a whole game in itself with a whole new culture and bold but refreshing change with a rich whole bodied atmosphere (almost like being in a dream) and basically the perfect swansong to a Geralt arc, and has stuck with me deeply a year later and I have yet to play any video game since.
