Agree completely. Its such a waste of time. Just an over-glorified friendly.

If I am one of the players who just lost a world cup semi final then I would first want to be left alone, not have to talk to anyone and after recovering sufficiently go on a vacation. I would want to be nowhere near a football for at least two weeks or so.

However some players do like having a last hurrah before coming back. What should happen in this match is that the shackles should be off. No need for any more caginess. Nothing is riding on it. Just go out and play as you do in an exhibition game. Lets end with a score line of 10-9.

I don't see a problem with 3rd/4th place playoff game. They are essentially friendlies and are entertaining high scoring games. It gives the second string players a chance to play in the world cup and they'll be wanting to impress. I'll be watching.

It's not about that, it's a meaningless match no matter your history. No player cares for it and it's waste of time.

I'm sure they'll try to win, they are professionals but off the record ask a player and i'm pretty sure they'd rather go home

Its for a WC third place after all, thats equal to a podium and a bronze, compared with being 'fourth' which is a significant distance? So I dont think its meaningless at all.

Cant remember historically whether teams will play full strengths for this game or not.... gotta wait to see the lineup....

I expect Belgium to win it, I think they are less demoralized and fresher than England. For a 3th-4th place final   these are  the things that matter the most.
