Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Westworld is too in love with it's crazy twists and production quality to have a plot that makes a modicum of sense or character I actually care about.
Still watch it though, but it's no game of thrones.

Finished Emperor of the Sea (2004)
there was an option to watch dubbed version
but decided to give original version a go
and acting was really good with interesting characters
Love some of these shows set in old Korean Dynasties

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Westworld season 2's strength was in its individual episodes like Kiksuya.
Together the season was as byzantine as Rome's legal system (we really need that stadium!). Twists and turns are great, but too many and the main reason that draws the audience in gets lost.
As for Handmaid's Tale, I thoroughly enjoyed this season, just as I did the first. Moss again was strong of course, but she wasn't alone this season. Yvonne Strahovski was excellent throughout this season. A strong Emmy contender.

Yeah performances saved a season marked by facepalm worthy moments (especially a finale that left everyone angry).

Sounds like something I'd see on the TLC channel.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Very good piece on Jim Carrey's re-emergence into a major project.
Frankly, I think this looks great. There's a very palpable melancholy to Jim Carrey these days. I love how he's channeled his disillusionment with the industry into his paintings and sculptures. Michel Gondry brought this out of him to great effect with Eternal Sunshine so it will be interesting to see if that translates to the small screen.

FFS... Can't wait.
Gonna rewatch the other two seasons before January then. Season 2 heavily underrated in general imo. Mainly because season 1 might be the best season of tv in a decade.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Season 2 was a mess. It had potential but was executed terribly and some of Vince Vaugh's lines are the worst in TV history
Also I loved season 1 but best season of TV in a decade is a massive reach considering Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad and Mad Men all had their best season in that time span.

Yea Season 2 was a gigantic mess. Tried too hard.
Season 3 looks good. Mahershala Ali is incredible so expecting it to deliver.

Best news of this month for me (yeah, not a great time to be alive)
I loved 1st and I appreciated 2nd (totally agree with Freeza about its understimation)
Genuinely I can't wait for it.
2019 will be surely a better year than 2018 after it

It’s more than 10 years ago both The Wire and Sopranos ended. Also find Breaking Bad to be horribly overrated. Only thing I have on the same level is The Leftovers season 2-3.
Worst lines in tv history? Give me a break. There’s plenty worse. Ever seen any soap ever?

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Yeah I do watch soaps and "you are pure solid gold" is worse than any line I have ever heard in any soaps ever.
And I thought you meant 2004-14 in ten year span. I'd say Fargo season 1 was on TD's season 1's level over the past years.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Useless to argue on ranking stuff, if analysis is based on a sum of subjective experiences. There's no way we can expect all of us to respond in the exact same way to such a big amount of external stimuli over a period of 10 years. Perspectives always differ and there's no place for absolute truth or objectivity when it comes to "- this is the best season; - no, that one was much better;" or "- this is the worst line ever etc.".
This kind of talks lead to nothing good. People differ, so, I'd say if we want to share our views, it's fine as long as we can acknowledge that it's not about possessing the absolute truth, but it is about sharing personal experiences in order to socialize and keep things interesting, by observing the rich diversity that surrounds us.
We could argue until one point if a line or a movie is bad or good, based on our subjective feelings and depending on our view it can be labeled one way or another (even though there's still no objective measure) by the collective mind of a group/society, but when our list includes hundreds of samples (movies/lines/tv series) and too much factors to take into consideration, it's literally impossible to come even close.

I can't forget this, My fav song during the closing credits of 6th episode
it was perfectly brilliant , hadrdly I've heard a song that fits better than this one .
Thank you Pizzolato, another thing that I appreciate about TDs is the choice of songs

Finished disenchantment
7/10 if you like futurama you'll like it (just don't expect it to be futurama). Excited to see what the future seasons will be like.

Who here watches Power?
If you haven't, definitely worth a watch if you need a gritty crime fix.
50 Cent is great in it.

Finished Sharp Objects. 9/10 best series I've seen this year. Last 3 episodes left me floored.
