If Democrats had any tangible evidence of any wrongdoing, there would be no talk, no discussion, no nothing. Trump would be in prison yesterday. The fact it's been THREE years and the Dims are STILL scraping the bottom of the toilet to find anything to pin on him (and failing miserably) is a testament to the sheer idiocy and incompetence of the DNC

The "transcript" is a reconstruction made by his aides, not a word for word exchange.

That said, asking for a favor after postponing already approved aid is mighty suspicious

Although, I agree he will not lose his office, the senate will never impeach him

so the USA gave them $391 million in military aid. if i was american i would be pissed and i dont mean just a little pissed.

What is really weird about this is, it is blatant and obvious corruption. They'll reelect him next year.

The Dems can't put him in "prison" anyway. As Mueller stated, there possibly couldn't even be an indictment of a sitting president.
Impeachment is not a judicial, but a parliamentary act.
And the Dems didn't have a majority in the house for 2 of the 3 years, and they don't have a majority in the senate even now.

They need more than a majority actually, simple majority to impeach him in the house but 2/3 to convict him in the senate. given the current partisanship of American politics it looks extremely unlikely for Democrats to unseat him but impeachment can seriously damage his chance of reelection imo.

Impeachment helped Clinton in '96.

I don't see much reason, based on polling, to think this will damage his chances much. This scandal might hurt a little (but probably not permanently). I don't think impeachment really moves the needle much.

Independents aren't even 100% on board. It's not a move without risk for the Dems. It might message really well though, especially if things continue to go south with respect to this scandal

- Pressuring the leader of a foreign country to investigate a US citizen (and his direct political rival) using US resources
- Attempting to cover up the above by trying to squash the whistleblower complaint before Congress were given their lawful right to read it.
- Threatening the lives of intelligence individuals who provided the details of the phone conversation to the whistleblower.

All of these meet the threshold of "high crimes and misdemeanors", which are grounds for impeachment.

This is significantly more damaging to Trump than anything that happened 3 years ago or the Mueller report. This happened in real-time and he was caught trying to cover it up and intimidate the individuals who blew the whistle on him.

What a meltdown, but we already knew he was insane and a crook, so not really changing much.

I think members of these committees that are leading the impeachment inquiries might legit need additional physical protection. Especially Schiff.

Trump has the mind of a mobster, a very dumb, almost cartoonish mobster, but a mobster nonetheless. I don't at all think he's above having some of these people and their families threatened or intimidated into doing what he wants to get the heat off of him.
