Re: Barcelona Are Ordinary!
You must be young dude... Rafa Benitez, Schuster, Remon, Querioz, etc. Plenty of far more crap managers at Madrid.
Also, remember that Barca won the treble 2 years ago and the La Liga/CDR double last season while Madrid won the CL.
I get it... unless these two clubs are completely dominant, the manager sucks. Such is the logic with fans today. But that's not how it works especially after a busy summer for the players and a ton of injuries on both sides.

He said both clubs tbf, has been a while since both teams had not very highly rated coaches.
Probably pre Pep.

MSN my ass
Messi is injured. That's why they are ordinary. When he ups his game he makes Suarez and Neymar (Xavi and Iniesta too, for that matter) look like pub players. One of the many wise things Mourinho said is that any top 10 team could win the CL with Messi.
This is how Barca won their last 2 CLs

Benitez is a much better manager than Zidane and Enrique.

Valky you say that but I'm pretty sure you would swap Benzema for Suarez in a second

Didn't say Suarez is a scrub. But it really baffles me when I hear names such as Suarez, Neymar, Xavi, Iniesta, Bosquets and so on since this Barca team has always been all about Messi.

so why was Messi struggling to dominate with Alexis and Dishmar pre-Suarez?
You underrate how important Suarez was in knocking out City(2 away goals), PSG (2 away goals) and Bayern. Second leg in the semi against Bayern Suarez was MOTM providing Nerman 2 tap ins which completely killed off the Bayern right as they were mounting a comeback. And who can forget his winning goal in the final.
Messi is goat but you cannot win by yourself.

Swap that 14-15 Barca crew with Madrid's squad minus CR. Wouldn't make any difference imo. He's a ridiculously talented man.

Of course he is. He's the GOAT by quite a distance.

Re: Barcelona Are Ordinary!
Really, it was Ter Stegen and Lucho that cost them that defeat.
Ter Stegen's responsible for 2 of the goals conceded.
Don't know why Lucho is trying to make Ter Stegen a baller when he isn't. Cillessen's a much better choice if Lucho wants to play with a baller keeper.

Also. Look at Celta's attackers. Celta has an attack that bites and doesn't let go.

unrelated to the topic....celta's actually a good team, just for the record. i've seen their games this season, they're not half bad. still doesn't excuse you guys conceding four goals to them; or us dropping points to them for that matter. just decided to point that out cos the rhetoric seems to be that they're not good since they lost nolito. they can give anyone a game

You're probably right, but if we were to keep the same treble-winning Barça squad and just replaced Suarez and Neymar with Benzema and Bale, do you honestly think it wouldn't have made a difference? Do you think our guys would've done as good a job?

Calma. Sucking in the first half of the season only means we're going to unleash the Kraken in the 2nd half of the season. Sure of winning the treble like never before.

@Futbol
pls STAHP!
@Hans
how come analytical poster such as yourself believes in superstitious crap like jinx.
On topic now. For me the two major issues are our inability to build from back and our midfield or lack of thereof. Teams have always pressed Barca but we unlike nowadays would withstand it or atleast wouldn't shit in our pants. Nowadays when teams press us high we succumb to it and almost always concede goals which is really really embarrassing.
Then comes our fictional midfield. Barcelona do not have midfield! let that sink in for a moment. What are the characteristics you generally associate with Barca midfield? short passing, off the movement, withstanding and absorbing pressure and most imp of all commanding the tempo of game. What was the last time we saw our midfield doing these things? can't remember tbh. And imo the major reason Messi leaves his flank and plays more centrally which we all agree rarely benefits him or us is due to our impotent and clueless midfield.

MSN vs Sevilla 15-17Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Genuine question then.
Why is it that they won every game easily last year including against Real Madrid without Messi when he was out last year?
What changed from last season to this?
15-16 BAR 5-4 SEV, no Neymar, Messi carried to win
15-16 SEV 2-1 BAR, no Messi, loss
15-16 BAR 2-1 SEV, MSN fit, Messi with individual goal
15-16 SEV 0-2 BAR, no Suarez, Messi carried to win
16-17 SEV 0-2 BAR, no Neymar, Messi best player on field
16-17 BAR 3-0 SEV, no Neymar or Suarez, Messi best player on field
Is there autopaste function that attaches this every few weeks Mole asks that RG? If not, please make a script for it.

Without Messi, without any improvement to our starting 11 since 2014, with too much rotation: yes, we are ordinary.

Re: Barcelona Are Ordinary!
You lost to Celta last year, but you ended up winning the league nonetheless.
Here's why I don't think you should be worried: you have no problem scoring from open play and you create a lot of chances going down the middle.
You know who should be worried? A team that has no tactical plan going forward and heavily rely on crosses to get the ball into the opposition's box. A team that doesn't even bother to create chances down the middle. A team with a static front line who don't drop back to open space and link up with the midfielders, living a giant gap between them and the midfield.
Imagine if you were like that. Imagine if Neymar, Suarez and Messi stayed up front and waited for the ball to come to them. Imagine if your only plan to score is crossing. Imagine you being unable to create chances down the middle and score from open play. Imagine if your CF was practically nonexistent.
You'll be fine. As long as your main rival is Real Madrid, you'll be fine.

Re: Barcelona Are Ordinary!
Without messi team is not ordinary.they are still top 5.
1 player cant make such a huge difference. let it be pele maradona messi or anyone.
The problem here is that it has been Messi's Barcelona and Messi's tactics in last 10 years. Team played whatever the way Messi wanted.
Almost all players roles are press, get the ball and pass it to Messi. Do nothing else. They used to do it so much that when Messi is not there they dont know what to do with the ball. One of the reasons why so many barca players look great passers because they know what they will do next. Their next move always is to find messi. and they did it so much that it looks easy for them.they can do it with eyes closed. But when Messi is not there they have to open their eyes, look for something else. and here lies the problem
Messi defined the way Barcelona plays. without him everything changes barca looks like M.City or R.Madrid. I dont say they will suck but the way they play will change without Messi

Re: Barcelona Are Ordinary!
Players are usually around Messi suck without him. Examples are Busquets and Suarez.
Neymar is a bit far from messi so it doesnt affect him so much. But he still misses his diagonal passes
the last season in this moment every player was in form at the same time.Eveyrone was almost 10 out of 10. Also they faced scrubs and second division teams until Madrid match. Against Madrid there were at least 5 barca players who were nominees for the man of the match. Of course main reason was because Madrid was shit even worse than R.Sociedad. But Barca players were also in form of their lives. Such shape doesnt happen very often for all players at once. So here is the result for this season

Controversial opinion, but I'd rather have prime Xavi than present time Messi on my team. That guy could help a toddler score in a CL game. None of you were praising Messi on the many occasions where the team was playing fantastic football in his absence, but now that they are underperforming, he's suddenly that missing piece of magic. I suppose Messi has adapted into a Xavi- type for Barca these days, but in terms of playmaking, I don't believe anyone is on the level of prime Mr. DNA.
