Griezmann for Ballon d'Or ?

Griezmann is the ONLY scorer on both France and Atleti... please don't tell me Torres and Giroud put fear in any team's heart.

True. I can already forsee messi and ronaldo eating up those votes as per usual. Infact all they need to do is probably have bout 5 decent games between August - November and the award is in the bag. Poor griezemen.

Football is such a funny sport, its all a thing of the moment. Though if france wins it (which they will) griezeman definitely has the European player award in the bag

Absolutely no chance Griezmann gets in the top 3. Even if France wins the euros. Top 5 maybe. Top 10 definitely but not top 3.

He'd have a legitimate case if Atletico won the CL.

Hell he does anyway but I think we all know you have to perform well above "a legitimate case" to be voted above Messi and Ronaldo.

Xavi was far far more influential during 08-10 after winning the euros and the WC and didn't win the award lol. Griezmann has no chance.

Heck an entirely new contender might even go on a tear from august to november and sneak into third place. Such is the nature of the football world.

You don't "have to" anything to be voted above Messi and Ronaldo.

Easily top 2 players in the world this year have been Suarez and Grizzy. Grizzy has to win Balon D'Or now that he not only carried Atleti on his back to the CL final and with the chance at the La Liga title in the last match, but also carried France to the final.

Calma. If Ronaldo wins Portugal the first ever major trophy on sunday how can you say he doesn't deserve a top 2 finish?

The thing is, Ronaldo and Messi have set the bar too damn high for everybody else, but above all, for themselves as well. People now take it for granted for Ronaldo to smash 50+ goals a season. And if Messi doesn't dance around 4 players before assisting Suarez, they bash him for having a "bad game".

You'll know how these two were in a league of their own when they retire leaving the BdO for players much, much inferior.

Numbers are irrelevant, it should be who was most important to team success.

Top 3 should be Suarez, Griezmann, Kommander obviously.

Even by team success, Griezmann still lacks that. Technically, Atletico was not successful, Madrid and Barcelona were with Messi, Suarez and Ronaldo contributing meaningfully towards that. And France hasn't won anything as yet so one can't be putting the cart before the horse.

I don't mind the Frenchman winning but he still is lacking in both numbers and team success category.

Well if France win the Euro...  Griezmann has already scored the second most goals in the tournament EVER behind only the 9 of Platini (Griezmann has 6 so far).  So he would have won the Euro in dominant fashion.

Messi was instrumental in Barçelona winning the league and argentina reaching the final of CA.

Ronaldo was instrumental in Real Madrid winning the CL and in a not-so-obvious way Portugal reaching the final of the euro.

I'm not saying they deserve the Ballon d'Or this year btw; I'm just saying that if another player won as much as they have this season and had the same impact both on national team and club level, everybody would be hyping them as a BdO contender.

Messi and Ronaldo would have to freeze the sun to convince people of their merit to be on the podium.

Why though? It was an historic double (not Spanish team has ever done the double twice in a row). Don't see why it shouldn't be deserved.

That being said, Antoinne scores a hattrick in the final and equaling Platini's record in one go, shit, give that man the Bdo one time. The award was created by a French magazine so it shouldn't be hard to deliver it to him then and there.

Is this a joke? Last time Real Madrid won the domestic double was almost 30 years ago.

Not really when Bayern does it (or any other team for that matter)  it never gets brought up as some sort of amazing achievement and the main reason Madrid haven't done it is because how often they play a weakened team in the cup.

I can guarantee if any other team with a star player won the league and cup it wouldn't be hyped this much.

CL finalist and winning the Euros is more impressive or winning the CL and Euros in Ronaldo's case.

Which would be more impressive to you mole, winning the euro while also being a CL finalist, or winning the CL while being a euro finalist?
