Re: Aubameyang apprection thread
Also coincidentally their record is much better when they start together

How many teams are consistently fielding two strikers ? as good as these strikers might be, having two of them in the same team does create some tactical headaches, especially for teams with questionable midfield like Arsenal.
If anything, I think Emery managed both of them very well. Someone like Mourinho would've probably picked a favorite and completely ostracized the other for the rest of the season.

Re: Aubameyang apprection thread
In an ideal world I'd agree, but reality is Arsenals team isn't good enough to be splitting them up like that.
They should be going all in on both until further notice, as it's not really worth benching one for "balance" when the alternatives are crap.

Exactly.
But they harmonise so well with each other that Emery has basically tried to field them together as much as possible.

Re: Aubameyang apprection thread
So for most of the season, Emery would only start Lacazette and Aubameyang together if he could put one of them on the wings. For the opening games, Auba played LW and Laca up top. When the team struggled for fluency, Emery started dropping one of them and bringing them on at half-time when we needed a goal. It was like that for a long time.
It hasn't been until recently that we've settled on a 3-4-1-2 formation that lets Emery play them both as a centre forwards. I believe the inconsistent form of Iwobi and Mkhitaryan, the difficulties in extracting the best out of Ozil and Ramsey's injury problems forced his hand, in the end. Auba and Laca were the only two attackers putting in consistently good performances, so they had to be together on the pitch.
Emery is a 4-2-3-1 guy usually and he tried to get that set-up to work in the first part of the season, until he discovered he didn't have the players. Problem is, I have no idea if 3-4-1-2 is going to be our shape from now on, or if we'll sign players in the summer to make 4-2-3-1 work better for us. The only reason 3-4-1-2 even works is because of Auba's and Laca's amazing work rate when pressing and running into wide spaces.

This must be how Arsenal fans feel about Harry Kane tbh. He's annoyingly good. He's not Kane level but he's a top top striker

Saw the tweet here and got curious about what did Watzke say in the first place to make Auba so mad and whether he deserves it or not. Turns out he said the following:
Such a cheap-shot, and for what? What a jackass.Watzke wrote:Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is playing so well for Arsenal, probably gets a warm feeling in his heart when he is looking at his bank account but on Wednesdays he can only watch the Champions League and be sad

Re: Aubameyang apprection thread
The context was that he was asked about English teams being able to pay higher salaries, with the prospect of Jaden Sancho moving back there sometime soon because of it.
I believe Watzke is trying to say that BVB will always have CL football to offer, and therefore have an advantage even over those teams who can pay big salaries.
Still, he didn't have to name Aubameyang specifically. It comes off as unnecessarily mocking. I understand their relationship deteriorated, but Aubameyang's been nothing short of amazing on and off the pitch at Arsenal regardless of how much money he's earning. He's hardly there to just collect a paycheck.

Another dab artist who's more interested in his car detail than actual football, his career is about to be snuffed out like a flame thanks to Arteta (Huge respect)

I don't think it would've made any difference if he didn't. From what I've seen of him at Arsenal since last year, he's often looked quite disinterested, and I don't think his position on the pitch had anything to do with it.
