There will be times where we must suffer defeat now in order to triumph later on. PSG did well to take their chances.

Well in the any case we still have plenty of time before the season starts.

No one can really tell you what Kovacic's best position is from his time at Inter. He was always inconsistent everywhere he played. A manager would come in (Mazzari, Mancini) and try him as a key part of his plans then after a few ups and downs he would hit the bench. Then he would get rotated to a new role and around and around.

He was tried as a regista, mezzala and trequartista, tried in Mazzari's attempt for quick transition counters or Mancini's stronger midfield approach and he never really fit. His best performances came (for me, and I think Robes and others would agree) as a mezzala, on the sides of a midfield 3. A Pogba, Pjanic, or Seedorf back in the day.

He was a strange signing for Madrid, the kid needs time. He was not consistent enough for Inter, hard to think that he would be so for Madrid.

The thing that really surprises me is the level of his immaturity like he'd do things you just can't do and even when he hits the bench because of it he goes and repeats it. Like serioualy you 6 can see flashes of talent in him. If it was just positional problems i am sure that can be sorted but when he does even the basics wrong like passing without looking up right to an opposition player with no player back you really wonder whether he even has a chance at our club

I don't think he has a chance in Madrid at all tbh. He needs plenty of game time to figure out his game. One more of Benitez' shitty signings (I mean in general, not at Madrid). If he is not a regular or impactfull at an inconsistent Inter then he cannot be so for Madrid. The Inter midfielder that Madrid would have loved would be Brozovic. He would be the perfect back up for Modric.

Thanks for the input Rincon... spot on with Kova. Just looking at him play however, he looks the type that just wants to get the ball and go. So putting him in positions that require more subtle and patient play doesn't seem to fit. Not that he can't do it... but it just doesn't fit his current personality.

Agree about that. He's an instinct player and I was first to say last season after a few games that I can't see him playing Modric's role in the future. He's a great talent nonetheless and a good backup attn

When has he ever played? The guy rarely ever does, and even during the rare games he was called upon, he played well. He's definitely not getting any special treatment.

Quite the opposite actually, he has always been professional and he has never whined about the lack of playing time.

Before you start thinking about getting rid of our true professionals who genuinely love the club, you might want to get rid of those who play regularly with below-average performances, and yet are always ungrateful.
