Ancelotti pre match:

"Illarramendi, Khedira and Isco will start and Bale will play some minutes", analysed tomorrow's meeting in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, “I expect a good game from Real Madrid. I am sure we are going to improve in this match. The players now understand what went wrong in previous matches and I am sure that tomorrow will be different.

They have to play better due to the individual quality the team has. We need to have more continuity as a team and improve defensively and in our speed of play. After the match against Levante we haven't trained with all the players, but I see the players as more focused. We are at an important moment in the season, which begins tomorrow, and we are ready to face this important week".

Prediction:

Real Madrid 2-0 Malaga.

Perfect game.......only problem is that we were playing vs Willy on steroids so didn't score more

Ronaldo admitting his below par performance and apologising to the fans at the end when he scored Proud

Illaramendi again had a great game, Khedira and Morata also stood out. Both marcelo and Carvajal showed why they are so much better than Arbeloa and Cacktrao. Good cameo by Jese btw he deserves to play more

Morata showed promising performance, aggressive on the attack, mobile, intelligent for a 21 year old(striker wise), off-ball movement was good, headers were OK, shame his luck wasn't with him that match.

Carvajal is great, he is fast, meaning he can be on the attack and return very fast if he is needed in defense. Miles better than Arbeloa.

Marcelo was man of the match for me. Probably the best dribbler in the team.

Illara impressed, has those Alonso sparks.

chad4401, it's not about missing chances, its about movement off the ball, great strikers miss chances, but they get in good positions to at least have chances....with benzema his movement is piss poor, he is supposed to make runs off the ball, but instead you find him hogging the left or right wing or playing too deep. which was a major problem for france last euros, and even at madrid you hardly see him in positions to get rebounds. now when you have a striker whose movement is appalling, and then coupled with that the striker misses a lot of the few chances he has, people have every right to complain....especially when such a striker has been shown too much favoritism by the club president and assistant coach.....that whole idea of not giving a striker competition to make him better is plain foolish, because of the threat giroud now poses, benzema has started picking up for france, when he was the clear favorite he was garbage......i suggest a new striker in the summer. benzema is too inconsistent for a team that needs to win almost all their games, due to the winning ratio of its main rival, in barcelona......hala madrid

actually it's not the same chad, Morata made scoring opportunities for Ronaldo and co. He was mobile throughout the match, opening space for other players, wanted the ball more, and got the ball more.

It's not that Morata is better than Benzema all of a sudden, I say Benzema has to start in our next two games vs Juve and Barca, he has the tendency to show up in big games and in champions league. So he is the rightful choice for our next two games.

valkyrja, you have to look at everything in context....nowadays in la liga, due to the duopoly, if you want to win the title you have to win almost all your games, the banner is set very high, couple that with having to do well in champions league as well as copa ( cos missing out on those two cups, could well mean they both end up in barca's hands). the pressure to achieve all that is too great to heap on young morata's shoulders. i'm all for youth development, but first priority should be trophies, its easier to promote youth based on two extremes- when the team is winning and the most dominant, or when the team is losing badly and desperate...at the moment we are not at either extreme......secondly, benzema wont be morata's back up, for one, he's more experienced, two, he is perez and zidane's pet.....the only threat to his position would be someone perez signs (higuain was ideal, but we know madrid politics, calderon signed him), who can deliever the goods better than benz......i'm all for selling benzema in the summer by the way, i've never been a fan, he's way too clumsy for my liking

At the moment Morata is performing better than Benzema, and at the same time he's more of a striker, has better instincts. Before summer we still have a season to play, in which if Benzema doesn't perform, Morata is gonna take his place, after all we won UCL with a 20 y.o Raul. What if Morata continues to impress and becomes a top striker ? You have to take risks, look at Bayern, they reached the UCL final in 2010 with a 20y.o Muller.

i get your point, and i agree with almost everything you've said....yes i would like morata to replace benzema and all but i can't help but feel the kid is still way too young to be a 25 goal kind of guy....and comparing him to raul is a tad much, times are different, when raul made his debut (yes barca had won multiple back to back leagues), there were still other teams that could upset the duopoly, the playing field in la liga was a lot more even than it is now, also raul had broken all records in the youth team, you can't compare every youth team striker to raul, different characters, different times....i'm all for taking risks but morata and benzema alone is too big a risk...one is too young one is terribly inconsistent, what happens when one or the other gets injured? also, bayern and muller are not good comparisons, bayern don't have a barcelona in their league to deal with, yes dortmund, wolfsburg may cause occasional upsets but its predominantly bayern so they can afford risks......unnecessary risks taken by us simply because we want to see the next raul could mean not just us losing titles but the rival barcelona celebrate the league, copa and even ucl at the end of the season, which is something i don't want to see, hell they've won more than enough league titles since 2005, we need to put a stop to that......benzema out and morata can play back up to someone who can actually deliver the goods

Well we are benching a world class, 5 times in a row best GK, a club legend, a football legend, just cause he is out of 'form'.

Same can be said for Benzema, but we know that won't happen, that would mean that Perez has to admit that he made a mistake.

Morata for starters is more determent to prove himself, unlike Benzema who seems far uninterested and unmotivated. Benzema needs to find his motivation back, the one he had in his second and third year with us.
