Gareth Bale Transfer Saga V.2

It's not just the money MT... it's the psychological impact on the team, the football world and society in general.  This isn't investment banking.  It's footy and it is a socially impactful entity.

There are a lot of players on Madrid that are better than Bale.  How are they going to feel when he makes 2-3x more money than they are and cost so much?  Spain is in a terrible recession... what kind of message does it send to overspend so dramatically on a player?  A lot of kids idolize Madrid...  what kind of example does irresponsible spending make?

And let's even look at it from a business standpoint... we just set another stupid overspending precedent with Flo.  Every time we're going to look to buy a player, the selling club is going to ask for unreasonable prices because we have a history of not caring.  This one is going to come back and bite us in the arse over and over again unless we actively look to break the trend.

It's not that Bale is a bad player.  He's a good player.  

But Flo is just acting irresponsibly here.

No Coentrao? That's harsh. He would have been an amazing fix to a problem area for Spurs.

I hope Spurs buy a LB. Danny Rose isn't good enough IMO and Benny is on the way out.

A LB, CB, and Willian to come in and Tottenham are good. Lamela too just to put the cherry on top

There are few consistencies when it comes to RM fans. In fact, they are consistently inconsistent with most things. Praising Flo is one of the very few consistencies we have. Those who like him would see the glass as half full (somehow). Those who hate him, hate him. There are no inbetweeners and change of hearts.

I would be cheering for Bale to be successful from day 1.

Don't think that would happen. Not everyone likes Ronaldo even though he scores the majority of the goals.

Of course i want Bale to succeed.  But he would need to make 3-4 straight ballon d'or podiums to make him worth the transfer price.

And let's be real, he's not even close to being a top 10 players in the world, let alone one top 3.

When the signing actually happens ,i'm sure many of you will get excited and would be dying to see him in action.

I don't really like Bale's style so I would be indifferent towards him. Plus signing him would mean Benzema would be benched unfairly. He deserves a chance now that Higuain's gone.

if we win the CL, and he ends up being a key player in our campaign the high price will be forgotten.

@swagg, those line ups are very bad mate. Benzema is going to the bench, or he proves to be a more valuable player. But given how he completely sucks off the ball too, CR will lead the attack with Bale

I think both Isco and Ozil should be starting ahead of Bale. Isco is more of an attacking CM rather than a dictating CM, so he wouldn't really be able to play as part of the '2'.

What's wrong with those line-ups,if we put say Casemiro as the holding mid? Isco is a hard worker.. If the others help with tracking back, it can work I think

I look at Bale as Di Maria's replacement, not as a way to slot Cristiano in the middle.. I wouldn't be surprised if that's how Madrid see's him

Tbh even though Coentrao couldn't be included in part of a deal for Bale I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs continue to try and snatch him as part of a separate deal. Wages are and will continue to be an issue though I'm sure.

Benzema never dropped deep as DM under Mourinho. It's just for France he apparently does.

Depends how much you value defense as well as a general balance to the team. Time will tell though
