Re: Pep Guardiola appreciation thread
You gotta respect Pep for always trying to play entertaining football.
The sad effect of it is it's physically draining on the players which is why other managers don't do it. But personally I love it. Sets up consistency. If the team is motivated, it shouldn't be a obstacle. Pep's Barca did it for years too.

They can probably get through Juventus without him but against Barca they'll need him.
Well, Benatia is back, that'll help, and tbh their defensive frailties are also, to a decent amount, due to their utter rejection of any notion that they should probably care about the defense. Adjusting their tactics to be a bit less risky might go a long way. Not sure they'll do it, but I could theoretically see the tactics being adjusted.
I won't continue this line of thought because I promised to lay off Pep for a bit.

Any draw that isn't 0-0 away from home is a good result in the champions league

Guardiola "When I speak with Joshua Kimmich, I only say good things. I don't want people to say he can't play in defence."
Guardiola "I love this kid. He has absolutely everything. He wants to learn, has passion. Kimmich can do whatever he wants."

Guardiola on Kimmich: "I love this kid. He has absolutely everything. He wants to learn, has passion. He can do whatever he wants." #BVBFCB
This is what Pep supposedly said to Kimmich.
"Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care"

Nope this one isn't false. He was genuinely enthused about the kid tonight.

LMAO It's actually worse than I thought.
"I told him he's one of the best centerbacks in the world."
Can't wait until Ancelotti takes over and Kimme predictably gets no game time since Ancelotti isn't known to make use of young players, let alone young players out of position. Then Kimme thinks to himself: "But Pep said I'm one of the best, why should I sit here on the bench", and asks to leave. Can't wait.

Yelling at players, making fun of how they play, encouraging them to consume copious amounts of booze. What a shit coach, would sooner have Mourinho than this fraud.

Meh, Carlo is a notorious yes man.
If Rummenigge and Sammer strongly suggest Kimmich is the future of our midfield, that's what he will be under Ancelotti.

Re: Pep Guardiola appreciation thread
With the way Thiago is performing, sorry: "performing", you might have a point.
Pep in a City press conference after Thiago gets benched by Ancelotti: "Thiago is a super super player, Thiago or no one."

IMO Ancelotti will be the one to truly unleash Thiago.
If you think what he did with Di Maria then you can conclude he's a capable headless chicken whisperer.

So what you are saying is that Douglas Costa still might have a decent future.

Re: Pep Guardiola appreciation thread
what I wonder now on second thought though, as a 'headless chicken whisperer', how exactly do you whisper a headless chicken?
Do you whisper into the stump at the neck, or do you have to find the severed head, to talk to, that's lying around somewhere else?
