Footballs mostly over and basketball and hockey have already ended, therefore it's now baseball season.

Whos your team? Favorite player(s)?

I hate the Red Sox Mad , I'm a Yankee fan. The Red Sox have owned us this year though.

Robbie Cano is my favorite player.

This should go in the Movie thread but it'll get more interest here:

Just saw the trailer for Moneyball(story of the GM of the Oakland A's) :

The book was awesome, I think the movie's got potential to be pretty good too.

Nope Celtics are the only Boston team I'm a fan of, and I'm Irish so I gotta like the C's. New York Yankees/New York Jets/NYRB/NY Rangers(although my girl is a huge Bruins fan so I didn't mind seeing them win) are my teams.

Yankees vs Cubs in about 20 minutes. I believe this is only the 2nd time in 80 years the Yankees have played at Wrigley Field. Should be a good series.

Robinson Cano won the Home Run Derby :bball: He was destroying the ball too, hitting 470 feet consistently.

Mariano Rivera became the all-time Saves leader today, passing Trevor Hoffman.

Props to the G.O.A.T. closer, and best post-season pitcher I've ever seen. Being at Yankee Stadium when "Enter Sandman" would play and Rivera runs out = one of the best moments in sports. Hopefully he's still got a few years left and can get to 700 saves.

Last night showed why baseball is so awesome + unpredictable.

Last night of the season: Red Sox needed to win, or have the Rays lose and they would be in the playoffs. They were up 3-2 for most of the game, into the bottom of the 9th. All of a sudden Baltimore ties the game, then Andino wins it for the Orioles.

3 minutes later in real time, Evan Longoria hits a HR in a 7-7 tie(Rays were down 7-0 too) in the 12th inning to win the game, the Wildcard and a playoff berth.

Epic collapse by the Red Sox. Historically gotta be up there with some of the worst ever. They were up 9 games in the Wildcard, and 1/2 game back in the division on Sept 5 and had a 99.6% chance statistically of making the playoffs.

The Braves also were up 3-2 in the 9th inning, if they win they're in, and they end up giving up the tying run in the 9th, before finally losing it in the 13th. Another collapse since they looked certain to be in the playoffs a few weeks ago.

Hate on baseball if you want, but it's got some of the most exciting divisional races of ANY sport.

Haha true, they could've used Rivera when the game was 7-6, or if they wanted to save him for the Tigers, then even Soriano. Instead they threw out Luis Ayala, Boone Logan, Cory Wade and Scott Proctor. :lol!:

Burnett is such an average pitcher.

I've never rated him, even when he was in Toronto.

He's looking extremely shaky out there.

Average might be giving him too much credit, lol.

But yeah he's always had great stuff, never really knew how to pitch consistently though. It could be worse, we could have signed John Lackey for the same amount. :lol!:

This and last season Burnett's been woeful but he did turn in a decent outing tonight when we needed it most and he was pretty good in the '09 postseason when we won as well.

Yankees season over, sucks but oh well. Congrats to the Tigers they were the better team, I hope they beat the Rangers. I also hope the Phillies lose tonight, go Cards

Yankees need to make some serious changes. CC may opt out, but I hope he doesn't. I wanna see us put together a good offer for Felix Hernandez, and if Seattle won't trade him, then try to sign Wainwright if he opts out. And finally, make a good offer for Prince Fielder to play DH.

Ideal lineup:

SS-D.Jeter
CF-C.Granderson
2B-R.Cano
3B-A-Rodriguez
DH-P.Fielder
1B-M.Teixeira
RF-G.Sizemore
C-R.Martin/J.Montero
LF-B.Gardner

Sabathia
Wainwright
Burnett
Hughes

Epic pitching matchup tonight.

Halladay vs. Carpenter (both ex Blue Jays btw Smile)

Their best friends off the field as well.

Halladay for the no-no.

*dead* Laughing @ Beckett, Lackey and Lester drinking, eating Popeyes and playing video games instead of being in the dugout watching their team. Great article. What a mess.

Francona's gone, and now Theo Epstein is taking a job with the Cubs.

I wouldn't even carry on like that in a casual league. I always loved playing baseball because of the atmosphere. Kids who didn't talk to each other in high school would become best friends in the dug out. You would never catch me sitting down, if I was at bat or in the field, you would see/hear me supporting my team. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Yeah, it's pretty messed up. It's especially when your team is out there fighting for a playoff spot and you'd rather be in the back drinking...

The Manager of the Marlins said Josh Beckett drinking has always gone on in the clubhouse. He used to have to lock the door during games so Beckett wouldn't go down there and drink.
